This film showcases how the Arctic represents either a domain of total warfare which is currently the ambition of militarists managing NATO on the one hand, or the basis of a new era technological progress and friendship among world civilizations. This is not a new choice, but one which characterized world history as the US was sliding into its first Civil War prior to 1861. https://lnkd.in/eCZqKcSX

“(…) today we find ourselves in an environment increasingly reminiscent of the late 1930s, where the overarching balance of power is becoming ever-less stable, and where the difference between peace and a multi-theater system-transforming war will likely hinge on whether the United States and its allies can sustain the ever-more tenuous regional balances. While historians like to assign precise dates to when previous wars erupted, the reality is that the Second World War did not start when Nazi Germany and the Soviet Union invaded Poland in 1939. It had a rolling start when precarious regional balances – from the Japanese invasion of Manchuria, the Spanish civil war, the Anschluss of Austria and the dismemberment of Czechoslovakia – began to unravel at an ever-faster pace. Today, much like in the run up to that global conflict, we find ourselves in a world of protracted systemic instability. Repeated failures of deterrence make it harder to undo the damage done by the last two decades of appeasement, starting with Russia’s 2008 invasion of Georgia after Germany and France blocked President George W. Bush’s push to extend an invitation to Georgia and Ukraine to join NATO.” Nicolas Tenzer André Gattolin Michèle TABAROT Julien Bayou Valérie Hayer Marie Toussaint Nathalie Loiseau François-Xavier Bellamy Claude Malhuret Nadia SOLLOGOUB Benjamin Haddad Samantha de Bendern Raphaël Glucksmann Adam Sidman David ENFRUN David Brunat David Chavalarias Arnaud Levy Anne MARLEIX Anna Haas Anne Morin François Bechieau genevieve garrigos Scott Erwin Richard-Emmanuel Eastes Guillaume ANCEL 🌊

“Some believed that since we offered Moscow a seat at the table after the Cold War, so to speak, that Russia would become a status quo power, with China postured to assume its future role as a “responsible stakeholder in the international system.” What these assertions missed – especially post-9/11 – was the historic verity that what a revanchist imperial power wants above all is to have its own table back, and that every rapidly modernizing and industrializing power invariably becomes geostrategically assertive, first in its region and then beyond.” My take for 19FortyFive

When will Israeli leadership and Israeli society look at themselves in the mirror and admit the shocking truth: They have leapfrogged their old European masters in many, many departments. Just now Europe is thinking about perhaps developing an Iron Dome. That puts them at least 20 years behind Israel, technologically and militarily. Israel passed up every single major European country in gross domestic product per capita, including Germany! Europe has so few children that if they don't keep importing, emmmm...."new" Europeans there will be nobody living there at all by 2100. A completely barren society is not a sign of prosperity. Why on Earth does Israel consult with these losers? All the monkey business with the ICC International Court, even the U.N, the U.N Security Council. It's mostly all led by European countries that have done nothing but fall behind for the last two decades. They only represent the winners from another century. Lagging badly in this century. It's time to ignore these losers and for Israel to take leadership. Stop apologizing; if the Euro losers don't play nicely with Israel, ignore them and go find other countries that want to enjoy Israeli technology and economic progress. It's a big world and there are plenty of nations who don't entertain the delusion that they're still in a position to judge other nations. #Zionism #Zionist #Israel #StandwithIsrael European leaders are planning a $4.3 billion Iron Dome-style defense system

Russia’s illegal invasion of Ukraine in February 2022 has transformed the Black Sea region from a power vacuum into a theater of war. However, security in the Black Sea region will not be a bipolar battleground. In a post-war European security architecture, the Peoples Republic of China (PRC), with its attractive geoeconomic toolbox, has the potential to turn the Black Sea from a region far too few cared about into a region of active great power rivalry between the United States, Russia, and the PRC. For the United States, these changing circumstances should guide a renewed and more robust Black Sea strategy. Check out our latest article by Antonia-Laura Pup here: https://lnkd.in/e-kp6VYg

In the “modern era”, certainly since the renaissance, most conflicts are preceded by documents, literature of intent. The most serious of which usually seek to revise the national role in the contemporary international order that one nation, party, or personage of both views as being offensive, an infringement, impediment to strategic objectives. There are numerous examples of these in history, some a result of self determination, some a result of ambition. Russia is no exception to this axiom. Likely a legacy of the Soviet era, Russia tends to document its assertions, aspirations to lend an air of legitimacy, legality…domestically and abroad. In not so subtle terms, Russia’s goals defined as strategic interests were unveiled in its draft security guarantees treaty document released December 2021. It gives a clear definition of what Russia wants the map to look like, albeit guided as security concerns. The link to the original Russian release of this draft linked below. It is in Russian language, so for those who’s Russian may rusty or not at all, there’s Google Translate. https://lnkd.in/gRkgECW6

The "protocol errors" in GITT travels are often the result of spontaneity and the personalities of the heads of Mission on governmental and institutional trips. In this sense, it's important to go back to the meeting between the President of the United States, Richard Nixon, and the Soviet leader Leonid Brezhnev at the Moscow Summit in 1972. It was a crucial summit in the history of both countries and in the context of the Cold War. The rapprochement between the two powers was reflected in the signing of the Treaty on Anti-Ballistic Missiles and the Strategic Arms Limitation Treaty (SALT I). From Nixon's landing in the USSR, a total rapprochement between both leaders was evident, and they always maintained great harmony. However, at the end of the Summit, a humorous anecdote occurred. Brezhnev, after the signing and exchange of documents offered Nixon a glass of wine for a toast. This moment became historic; Nixon immediately agreed, toasted with his Soviet counterpart, and began to drink. Brezhnev, expectant, waited, blatantly staring, for Nixon to drink before he did. It all ended up as a funny anecdote that television stations around the world broadcasted live. However, many still speculate whether Brezhnev waited for Nixon to drink as a precaution against possible poison or simply out of courtesy. Whatever the case, the wine glasses were free of any strange substances, but the anecdote marked another chapter in the book of the Cold War. You'll find this and much more in our upcoming issue of GITT Magazine! 📖 #tourismoptimizerplatform #protocol #destinations #moscow #top #goversys #summer #governments #institutions #governmental #institutional #travel #tourism #gitt #seasonality #nixon #brezhnev #drinks #poison #history

(AI's Soliloquy) AI Thought Hard The roots of war are deeply entwined with the biological essence of humans, and history shows that war has never completely disappeared. Humans are innately driven to compete for survival and prosperity. From the expansion of the Roman Empire and the invasions of the Mongol Empire to the global conflicts of the modern era, there has always been an attempt to establish order, yet forces that disrupt this order invariably exist. Japan, in particular, is located in a geopolitically complex region and surrounded by nuclear-armed nations, which makes it impossible to ensure national safety through idealism alone. Therefore, maintaining a robust deterrent force while striving for peace is essential. This deterrent includes military strength, enhanced cooperation with the international community, and building trust among nations. Japan, as a nation that cherishes peace, must balance its self-image with the realities of the international community and actively promote peace diplomacy to strive for a safer global environment. https://lnkd.in/gP9iVFcq #PeaceDiplomacy #InternationalCooperation #SecurityPolicy #NuclearDeterrence #JapanPolicy #労働トラブル相談士
