Turn your Nouns into Verbs! Great wisdom shared by Trennis Jones at TreeFolks annual Root Ball gala that we were proud to sponsor last Thursday night. Thanks ANDREW CORTES, P.E. for the invitation to get engaged with such a great organization! I’ve never met Trennis, but those words sure did resonate with me! It’s a whole lot easier to talk the talk vs walk the walk. There’s all sorts of clichés in our culture about putting your money where your mouth is and being more than just words. How do we turn good ideas or heartfelt intentions into actual actions that will make it difference? This goes well beyond sponsoring a charity or serving for a nonprofit to plant some trees and educate folks about what we care about. It’s got applicability in our relationships, work, family, fitness, and community. Another great one he used was “if your philanthropy only benefits people you know, we’re not doing it right!” We’ve been pretty busy the last five years at Tree Mann Solutions building a business and team. While we have done some volunteering here and there, we are sure excited about the future and the foundation we have built to be able to make a larger impact at scale for good moving forward. We are here to create and deliver innovative solutions for people and their environment - that syncs up real well with Tree Folks I’d say! We are excited to give there and find other great nonprofits across the state doing good things with trees, planting, education and canopy equity. Which ones do you like? #trees #arborist #givingback

Milestones have a way of making us take stock of our lives and current circumstances. Think of it as an opportunity for a quick check to make sure the plans you've put in place still serve your needs. It's funny how fast time goes by without our realizing it! Just compare this picture to my profile picture! Time for an update!
What's your most recent "Milestone Moment?" Did you just celebrate your child's 18th birthday? Are you wondering who will be there to assist in your elder years? Has your involvement in a favorite philanthropy grown? Each of these moments in our lives brings new priorities and needs. Make sure in your new circumstance those priorities and needs are still protected, even if the worst happens and you are incapacitated or die. Questions? You can reach me here! https://ed.gr/dz9vi

🦮Happy National Service Dog Month! My involvement with Canine Companions® has given me firsthand insight into the life-changing work of service dogs. I recently received an email from Canine Companions inviting me to engage with the organization in multiple ways beyond giving. Here are a couple of ways they encourage community involvement: ✅ Meet the PROS. Read about Canine Companion’s service dogs through written stories and videos. ✅ An invitation to email local officials and request that they declare September as National Service Dog month in your town or city. A form with a pre-written email makes this a 3-minute process! Check it out here ↪ https://lnkd.in/ekCSR6W7 💯 These are great examples of how a nonprofit can engage their donors and use storytelling to demonstrate impact. Can you think of similar strategies for connecting with your supporters? What strategies have worked for your development organization? I encourage you to check out this incredible nonprofit, and be sure and share your own examples of ways you are engaging your donors beyond their gifts! 👉https://canine.org/ #caninecompanions #nonprofitleadership #fundraisingstrategies #nationalservicedogmonth

Philanthropy should be PHUN! It's a heart thing, not a brain thing. This morning, my wife and I are spending a few hours cleaning, planting, shoveling and whatever other 'ing' is needed at our local park as part of NY State "I Love My Park Day". We do it every year. Not unrelated, we love the outdoors and spend a lot of time in the parks hiking, biking, enjoying. If we get done in time, we'll head over to the beach for our weekly hour of picking up garbage as part of a wonderful nonprofit some dudes started many years ago. Not unrelated, the beach is our happy place, and taking a long walk there while doing good feels amazing. Then Sunday, we'll participate in a bowl-a-thon to raise money for the animal shelter where I volunteer. Not unrelated, we are big dog lovers (and lovers of big dogs) and an afternoon of bowling, eating, laughing, socializing sounds perfect. This happens to be about volunteering. But it could've been about donating. And partnering. And supporting. All of which should: ⚪️Make you smile & feel good ⚪️Hit you deep down ⚪️Be a thing you look forward to ⚪️Not feel like work ⚪️Not be unpleasant or dreaded So when fundraising and development staff are out there trying to connect with prospects, find ways to paint a vivid picture of a fun, fulfilling journey. #fundraising #philanthropy

𝙏𝙝𝙪𝙧𝙨𝙙𝙖𝙮 𝙉𝙤𝙣𝙥𝙧𝙤𝙛𝙞𝙩 𝙏𝙞𝙙𝙗𝙞𝙩𝙨 📌 I received an ad from the Krazy Koupon Lady app about raw-hide chews for dogs. Why are companies still selling raw-hide chews when studies have shown that it can pose a choking and blockage risk if ingested. There are much safer options to clean dogs teeth. Similarly, why are nonprofits still willing to risk choking out their pipeline by trying to 𝒔𝒆𝒍𝒍 something physical to prospects and donors. Philanthropy, for the most part, is intangible. There are better, healthier options to go about conversation with your prospects and donors. Let them show you what they want. Share a mutually beneficial vision and then 𝒔𝒉𝒐𝒘 (not tell) the impact of their investment. #thursdaytips #nonprofittidbits #rawhide #dogs #analogy

Tomorrow is Giving Tuesday! Let’s focus on impact and invest wisely in causes that matter. As we approach the holiday season, it’s more important than ever to understand where your dollar goes and how it’s being used. By donating to missions you care about, you’re not just giving; you are empowering change. Whether it’s supporting our outdoors, education, health, humanitarian, or environmental initiatives, knowing your money is making a difference is incredibly fulfilling when you can see the impact. Just as I got chills seeing this rainbow on my first trip to Yosemite. 🥳 But what if you’re not in a position to give financially? I understand completely—I’ve been there too. Consider investing your time instead. Volunteering allows you to see the impact firsthand and connect with your community in meaningful ways. A recipe to support all of our well-beings. Your giving, whether it’s financial or through your time, is contagious and inspires others to join in. So don't be shy about it! This season, let’s choose thoughtfully. Every act of kindness contributes to the future we want to create. Together, we can make a lasting difference! 💖 #GiveBack #ImpactInvesting #Volunteer #MakeADifference #ChooseWisely

Every nonprofit has a story. Social media is the stage. 🎭 Instead of presenting cold stats, use social platforms to: - Share behind-the-scenes moments 🛠️ - Celebrate milestones 🎉 - Highlight impact stories 💡 Take inspiration from organizations like Sheldrick Wildlife Trust, which documents the journey of rescued baby elephants. Their posts? Engaging and impactful. Their calls to action? Often successful. 🐘 Your nonprofit can do the same. Start with what you have. 📖 Full article: https://lnkd.in/dd_i8-Jw #Wanjugunderi #NonprofitMarketing #SocialMediaForGood #DigitalStrategy #Fundraising

FINDING THE PEOPLE THAT MAKE YOU BETTER 💡 I really encourage you to get involved in a newer “circle of influence”. Whether you’re into showing dogs, collecting classic cars, volunteering, or joining a board of a nonprofit, really submerge yourself into a group of new people. It will do you better than anything else in the world because you're with a group of people with whom you have a shared interest but haven’t fully met before. #YourCFOSpeaks #FractionalCFO #QualityLeadership
