There's no tired like teacher tired in May! As we near the end of the school year, it's important to recognize the incredible dedication and hard work that educators put in every day. However, this dedication often leads to burnout, and we're already seeing a huge teacher shortage and an exodus of teachers leaving the profession. During my workshop, "Burning Up Instead of Burning Out: Improving School Leader and Teacher Performance While Improving Physical, Intellectual, and Emotional Health", I provide strategies and tips for educators to prioritize self-care and prevent burnout. Summer is a time to recharge your batteries and invest in yourself to prepare for the next school year. Teachers, please make your health a priority. Balancing Purpose and Pressures in Education 📚 Many of us entered teaching with a heartfelt mission: to make a lasting difference—to empower students, shape futures, and uplift our communities. It’s a calling that often goes beyond academics, touching lives in ways we may never fully see. But what happens when that mission feels obstructed by external forces? 🔍 Unrealistic expectations from the very community you sought to serve... 🔍 Non-supportive parents or administrators who challenge rather than champion your efforts... 🔍 School board initiatives that seem to create barriers instead of breaking them down... For many teachers, these pressures create a difficult conflict: How do you sustain your purpose and passion while navigating systems that can feel counterproductive or even overwhelming? 👉 How do you balance your original desire to be a positive force for change with the reality of burnout, frustration, and the mental and emotional toll of modern education? Let’s open the conversation. What strategies have helped you stay grounded in your purpose? How do you find fulfillment amidst challenges? What advice would you give to those struggling with this balance? Your insights could inspire and support educators who are feeling stuck, dismayed, or searching for a way forward. Share your story below. Let’s build a community of encouragement and solutions. #Teaching #Education #Burnout #CommunityImpact #EducatorsMatter

𝐐𝐮𝐞𝐬𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧𝐬 𝐰𝐞 𝐡𝐞𝐚𝐫 𝐝𝐮𝐫𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐨𝐮𝐫 𝐚𝐝𝐦𝐢𝐬𝐬𝐢𝐨𝐧𝐬 𝐩𝐫𝐨𝐜𝐞𝐬𝐬… 🎼 Are you looking for an alternative to the intensity of grades, homework, and focus on the future without living the present? Our youth are SO stressed about grades and their futures, that they are unhealthy and unable to enjoy the present! Hey, it’s true for most adults too, but let’s give the gift to our children if we can’t yet give it to ourselves… “According to the American Psychological Association in 2024 stress levels among K-12 students are alarmingly high, with seven out of ten U.S. teens (ages 13-17) identifying anxiety or depression as major issues among their peers. In school, 75% of high school students report experiencing boredom, anger, sadness, fear, or stress. On a 10-point scale, where adult stress averages 3.8, American teens rate their stress at 5.8. Additionally, three-quarters of high school students and half of middle schoolers consistently feel stressed due to schoolwork.” (The American Institute of Stress) Yikes! Don’t accept the common narrative that grades are the only way to measure life success and wellness. We equip teachers, administrators, and youth advocates with powerful evidence-based tools to manage their own stress and emotions. These educators go on to create a school climate where everybody can thrive. Do we really care about students? Are we really trying to invest in their success or are we just punching the clock? In schools, especially when working with kids who have faced trauma or experienced multiple ACEs, it’s time we move beyond traditional behavior management and embrace restorative discipline practices. These students often need connection—not just consequences. Their behaviors are often rooted in deep-seated pain, not defiance, and they thrive when given the opportunity for understanding, empathy, and healing. Restorative practices center on relationships, accountability, and growth, rather than simply punishing a behavior. It's crucial that we consider intent, the student's history, and the larger context of their actions. Rubber-stamp consequences that don't take these factors into account only perpetuate cycles of disconnection and distrust. We need to be courageous in our approach, offering students the chance to repair harm, understand their actions, and feel supported—rather than just penalized. When we choose connection over punishment, we create environments where kids can learn, grow, and ultimately, break the cycles of trauma they've experienced. It's not easy, but it’s worth it. #RestorativeJustice #TraumaInformed #CourageousConnection #EducationWithEmpathy

"You have been criticizing yourself for years, and it hasn't worked. Try approving of yourself and see what happens." - Louise Hay At Hungry 2 Move, we're bringing this transformative mindset to schools across the UK. Our mission? To help young people break free from the cycle of self-criticism and embrace self-approval. In today's high-pressure society, students often tie their self-worth to grades, appearance, or social media metrics. Our workshops and resources aim to shift this paradigm, showing that self-acceptance is not just a feel-good concept, but a foundation for well-being. How we want to help your schools: 1. Improve mental health and resilience among students 2. Decrease instances of bullying and body shaming 3. Greater student engagement in physical activities and sports We're not just educating; we're empowering the next generation to approach life with confidence and self-compassion. By fostering environments where young people approve of themselves, we're seeing ripple effects throughout entire school communities. Educators and school leaders: How are you addressing self-criticism in your institutions? What challenges do you face in promoting positive body image and self-acceptance? Let's start a conversation about nurturing self-approval in our educational systems. Your insights could help shape a more positive future for our youth. #YouthEmpowerment #EducationInnovation #PositiveBodyImage #SchoolWellbeing #StudentMentalHealth
