  • Is it a Will problem or a Skill problem??? 🤔 When performance falls short, the first solution many leaders turn to is training. But what if the employees already know how to do the job? 🔑 Here’s the critical distinction:  - Skill: The employee doesn’t know how to perform the task. Training is necessary and effective here.  - Will: The employee knows how to do the job but lacks motivation or sees no reason to perform it as expected. An example: Imagine Call Center employees who are trained to provide outstanding customer service. They’ve been given tools and guidelines and even tested to prove they can handle calls with care and precision. But what happens when their rewards and incentives prioritize transaction speed over quality service? They make a logical choice:  ➡️ Focus on completing calls quickly, not providing exceptional service. In this case, the issue isn’t a lack of skill. The organization's measures and rewards are sending mixed signals. If the business values customer service, but compensation rewards speed, employees will behave accordingly. ❓ Key takeaway: Training isn’t a one-size-fits-all fix. Before turning to training:  1️⃣ Inspect what you Expect: Are performance measures aligned with the behaviors you want?  2️⃣ Will vs. Skill: Identify whether the gap is motivational (will) or knowledge/ability-based (skill). If we want to drive meaningful change, actions (incentives, recognition, measurement) must align with expectations. Otherwise, we risk “winning the battle but losing the war.” Have you seen a “Will vs. Skill” dilemma play out in your organization? How did you address it? • Nine Women Syndrome and You Are you rushing your job search and skipping critical steps? The pressure to "move fast" can backfire. Just like nine women can’t make a baby in a month, rushing a career change can result in frustration, burnout, and missed opportunities. 🚫 ✅ Instead of using a “spray and pray” approach (applying everywhere), go slow to go fast:  - Plan strategically.  - Highlight business metrics: *Increase revenue, reduce costs, improve efficiency. - Focus on QUALITY applications, not just quantity. Take the time to build a clear, focused strategy. Rushed efforts lead to rework. A thoughtful plan delivers results. 🎯 #JobSearchStrategy #CareerChange #QualityOverSpeed #ProfessionalGrowth #SlowDownToSpeedUp

  • Transitioning from Teaching to a New Career: Essential Tips One of the key challenges for educators moving into roles outside the classroom is positioning themselves effectively for new opportunities. Whether crafting a resume, preparing for interviews, or understanding their value, here are six essential points to help: 1️⃣ Demonstrate Leadership and Initiative Go beyond showing you’ve followed a curriculum or fulfilled basic responsibilities. Highlight how you’ve enhanced processes, developed peers, or identified opportunities for improvement. Show you’re a contributor who can drive an organization’s goals forward. 2️⃣ Be a Problem-Solver Employers value candidates who can tackle challenges effectively. Prepare specific examples where you assessed, addressed, and resolved problems. This demonstrates your ability to think critically and take action under pressure. 3️⃣ Showcase Your Work Ethic  Highlight moments where you’ve gone above and beyond expectations, especially those that align with an organization’s values. Share examples of staying committed to doing what’s right, even when faced with adversity. 4️⃣ Emphasize Teamwork  Collaboration is critical in most roles. Provide examples of working on teams or committees, and show how you contributed, supported others, and ensured shared responsibilities were met successfully. 5️⃣ Highlight Strong Communication Skills Effective communication is a must. Demonstrate your ability to communicate clearly with supervisors, peers, parents, or other stakeholders. Strong writing, speaking, and listening skills are assets that set you apart. 6️⃣ Focus on Soft Skills Hard skills can be learned, but soft skills like adaptability, empathy, and collaboration are what truly differentiate candidates. Share how you connect with others and bring value beyond technical expertise. 📌 Remember: Transitioning to a new role is about more than proving your qualifications—it's about showcasing your unique strengths as an adaptable, resilient, and valuable team member. #CareerTransition #TeachersToCorporate #JobSearchTips #ResumeTips #ProblemSolving #Leadership #SoftSkills

  • ✨ Career Change: Facing Fear, Building Resilience, and Moving Forward The thought of leaving the classroom for a new career can be daunting. Many of my clients feel stuck in the familiarity of teaching, despite its ups and downs. Transitioning to a new role often feels like stepping into a "VUCA" world—volatile, uncertain, complex, and ambiguous. You may lose the sense of control you once had, but with the right mindset and tools, it’s absolutely achievable. Here’s how to navigate the process: 🎯 Tailor Your Resume to Every Role Don’t rely on a one-size-fits-all resume. Customize it to match the specific job requirements and industry language. Use keywords relevant to the role (e.g., "gap analysis," "evaluation" for trainers, or "SEO," "social media" for marketing). This increases your chances of standing out, both with Applicant Tracking Systems (ATS) and human recruiters. 💪 Expect and Embrace Rejection Rejection is normal. It doesn’t define your worth. Learn from feedback when it’s consistent, and understand that what resonates with one employer may not with another. Stay persistent—it’s all part of the process. 📈 Set Stretch Goals Push yourself beyond your comfort zone. Network with more people, attend industry events, or dive into professional reading. These small steps build momentum and confidence. 🧘♀️ Balance Self-Care and Self-Exertion Rest and recharge, but also challenge yourself. Resilience grows when you stretch your limits and embrace discomfort. The road to a new career takes time, effort, and adaptability. But with focus, resilience, and the right support, you can find success outside the classroom. 🔗 I’m here to help educators transition into Corporate Training, Instructional Design, or Freelance Consulting. • IF NOT NOW, WHEN??? Hello, fellow procrastinators!  Let’s be honest—whether you’re a lifelong procrastinator or a reformed one, chances are you’ve put off something important. You’re not alone. Procrastination is deeply ingrained in the human experience. We’ve all seen it: students cramming for exams, kids pleading for more time to finish their homework, and adults rushing to mail taxes on the deadline day despite months of advance notice. Even as we tell ourselves to "just get it done," we can find a hundred other distractions to fill the time. Procrastination becomes a real problem, though, when it keeps us from moving forward in meaningful ways—like pursuing a career change or starting a project we’ve been dreaming about. The enormity of the task can feel paralyzing, leading to questions like: - Where do I even begin?  - What should I do myself, and what should I delegate?  - How can I ensure I’m making the right choices?  These doubts lead to delays, and delays lead to rushed decisions with suboptimal results. But here's the thing: the perfect moment to start rarely exists. Instead of waiting for that mythical "better time," take the first step—no matter how small. Start with a conversation, a bit of research, or writing down your goals. And if you feel stuck, don’t go it alone. Reach out for guidance. A mentor, coach, or even a well-structured plan can make the seemingly overwhelming manageable. Change is daunting, but it doesn’t have to be paralyzing. The question isn’t IF you’ll take action but WHEN. So why not start today? #Procrastination #Motivation #TakeAction #CareerChange #PersonalGrowth
