🔍 **Set-Piece Masterclass: A Tale of Two Identical Goals** ⚽️ set-pieces remain a critical element in breaking down defenses and seizing crucial goals. Recently, we witnessed two brilliant examples of this during matches involving Manchester City vs. Liverpool and Norwich City vs. Leicester City. Both goals were eerily similar. 📌 **The Strategy:** Both teams employed a clever maneuver that left their opponents scrambling. Here’s how it unfolded: 1. **Players Positioned Outside the 6-Yard Box:** All attacking players initially stood outside the 6-yard box, creating an illusion of space and disorganization. 2. **Decoy Movement:** As the ball was delivered, one player made a near-post run, engaging and pushing an opponent. This movement was crucial as it was designed to disrupt the defensive setup and create a gap. 3. **Exploiting the Gap:** With the near-post player drawing defender away, another player timed their run perfectly to exploit the newly created space within the 6-yard box, leading to a well-placed and decisive finish. #FootballTactics #SetPieceStrategy #ManchesterCity #NorwichCity #Liverpool #LeicesterCity #CoachingTips #SoccerAnalysis #GameChanger

Welcome to Wrexham, USA... 'Wrexham' is searched for more than the vast majority of Premier League teams in the US. For context, they are searched c. x3 more than Tottenham Hotspur The top 9 search results for 'Wrexham' in the US are dedicated to AFC Wrexham Wrexham is one of the very few UK locations that is googled more in the USA than the UK c.75,000 questions are googled about AFC Wrexham each month worldwide, EPL Champions Manchester City recieve c.78,000 As the US market becomes increasingly more significant to English football, this move seems shrewder by the day. More clubs are letting cameras in behind the scenes to build their brand, but are they able to find the ingrediants that will allow them to capture the imagination of other markets? And, is there room in the US market to sustain another Wrexham like story? #AFCWrexham #football #USA #sportsbusiness

One of the benefits of neuroscience for football coaching is that we are starting to understand why this type of practice is beneficial, especially for youth players, in terms of motivation, reinforcement learning and natural drives toward inquiry and exploration. I talk about it a bit in this book around the adolescent brain and football https://lnkd.in/eTREXca6
“We can develop 100 exercises, but the best thing is to create the street. We play 5 v 5 and winner stays on. What I see in these moments - the creation, the type of goals - it just blows my mind." Pep Lijnders Liverpool Football Club https://lnkd.in/e8nRT7hZ

The intense match held last Sunday at Old Trafford saw a fierce battle for control of the midfield. Manchester United's adjustments to their build-up plan to counter Chelsea's relentless man-marking were impressive, but data indicates that Chelsea won the midfield battle. Among the players on the ground, Chelsea players dominated the top five spots for touch percentages in the middle third area, and they also claimed the top three spots for total touches. However, Manchester United recorded a higher xG of 2.0 compared to Chelsea's 1.1, suggesting that despite losing control of the center, they created more quality chances closer to goal. While Manchester United struggled to control the central areas, they created many good opportunities through direct play. Chelsea, on the other hand, may not have created as many scoring chances but achieved higher possession and other stats, leveraging their dominance in the middle. Premier League Manchester City vs Manchester United Sequences: - In initial build up, Manchester United would have the tendency to create congestion to free space in Isolated zone with free man. This was achievable through keeping the awareness of opposition's 1st line of pressure into the ball zone overload. - One way Man united did superbly well was their organization in a defensive unit. Also, manchester city's 3-1-6 structure was overshadowed and lack threat through constant awareness from pivots to intervene (either Mainoo or Ugarte) or forcing opposition's into negative passes to start another build up sequence. - Manchester was superb in different pressure fashions as a situational man marking to avoid progression near City's initial build up. - In higher build up, Man United kept a 3-2-5 structure. However, one of the wing-backs (Mazraoui) inverts into midfield in a double 10 role along B.Fernandez. - Blindspot movement from Diallo + anticipating his pair to approach in a diagonal run in-behind Gvardiol ( uneven pair), this was possible as Mainoo pinned Gvardiol generating a gap that was recognized by the Ivorian. also, Lisandro had space and time to recognize the run ( as city applied a zonal marking) to place a sublime killer pass. As Diallo, finalized the play with a stellar finish. #manchesterunited #manchestercity #soccercoach #socceranalysis #footballtactics #futebol #footballscout #calciotattico #fussballtaktik #soccertactics #futbolentrenador #matchanalysis #sportsanalysis

Brentford FC manager Thomas Frank has taken a team derided as a "bus stop in Hounslow" into the English Premier League, where it sits comfortably in the middle, despite a TOTAL wage bill that's lower than what Chelsea (whom we're playing tonight) paid for Cole Palmer. How does he do it? This excellent article from The Athletic (subscription req'd) cites his incredible knowledge of the game, pragmatism, tactical flexibility, approachability, calmness, fairness, competitiveness, and ability to have fun. Something to keep in mind for those in leadership positions at work: 1. Gotta know your stuff 2. Must know how to adapt experience to the specific situation at hand 3. Don't be a jerk 4. Take the serious stuff seriously, and have fun with the rest COYB!! 🐝 https://lnkd.in/ehC-yuBt

Premier League Matchday 08 Manchester United vs Brentford 1st clip: -Asymmetrical build up in open play - 3+2 (3-2-5) structure with GK in role of out field player + support of far sided CBS - Initial double pivot LFB inverted in second line alongside CDM as RFB would drop into second line from first line to generate attraction from markers in central/half spaces - Opposition in a situational man marking structure, covering nearest possible receivers - First line pinning defenders + CF correct behavior to approach into the gap created between lines as best receiver through opposition man marking fashion. 2nd Clip: -High press in oppositions low build up - intense compression of spaces through man marking - Fullback anticipating pair to regain possession + CF behavior to be properly profiled to receive as third man in final third. 3rd Clip: - Opposition build up in a 4+2 - Manchester United approaching initially in a 1-4-4-2 zonal miblock structure with second line in charge of covering wide + central spaces and first line in charge of direct duel against GK and sided pair of center backs. Overall, I feel that Manchester United was great today with tweaking the mistakes from first half ( allowing opposition midfielders to appear as free option in pockets) or permitting the concept of switch to isolate be a main tool from Brentford, when Man Utd would bring a higher block. However, a solid build up structure + fluidity, high intensity and hybrid marking from zonal to man marking in key situations was a consistent throughout the second half. I personally liked how Lisandro was consistently as a situational Fullback with great positioning by being 'above, neutral or below' against oppose pair+ his utilization in second line by inverting with great cognitive pattern of play in the action that was needed at the moment w/ possession. #MANUTD #MANCHESTERUNITED #PREMIERLEAGUE #ERIKTENHAG #THOMASFRANK #BRENTFORDFC #SPORTSANALYSIS #SOCCERANALYSIS #FUTBOLENTRENADOR #SOCCERCOACH #FOOTBALLCOACH

England analysis vs Denmark In my opinion, we need to be more aggressive off the ball. Here is why: 6/10 outfield players that start for England play a pressing system within their Premier League club. Key principles: ✅ Triggers ✅ Trapping the opposition on one side of the pitch ✅ Denying switches ✅ Pressing to regain possession ✅ Remaining compact within 3/5 lanes in relation to the ball #Football #Euros #England #Analysis #Footballcoach
