Ahead of the release of our 2023/2024 State of the Industry Review, we gathered over 20 in-house and agency Communications leaders at the Leaders Breakfast Roundtable in Singapore. An insightful exchange where we heard similarities and differing priorities from both perspectives as it relates to talent recruitment and retention. 75% of senior roles are filled by people applying from outside the organisation, yet only 25% of these individuals are from working class backgrounds. To mark Progress Together's second anniversary, we're taking a step towards changing that. We're bringing together executive search firms and financial services companies for a virtual roundtable to work together to find solutions. We want to improve socio-economic diversity at senior levels and our member firms are working hard to achieve this. Korn Ferry operates across various industries and company sizes, including public, private, and private equity sectors. As an experienced recruiter working with candidates ranging from Senior's to CFOs, I’ve observed that the mandate for 100% in-office work continues to pose challenges in filling positions. While a small fraction of the talent pool prefers or enjoys office work, the commute often becomes a significant factor. Four out of five employees in a new global workplace well-being survey by Korn Ferry say they are not thriving at work. Are you? We talk a LOT about the war for talent. Winning the hearts and minds of your current and future workforce requires listening deeply and seeking to understand what people are going through. It's not the same for everyone. This article cites comp is a key area of attention. Comp has never been more important; you cannot guess on comp. (It's one reason we've developed such a strong comp practice at OneDigital.) But tapping into the hearts and minds of your people requires more than fair compensation. You must help them achieve. Learning to help people succeed in work and life is THE core competency of the future...a future with tight, transient labor markets where the organizations that win the hearts and minds of people will grow...and others won't. If you can provide internal promotion and mobility for employees, you could cut turnover by up to 75%. If you want your best employees to stick around, show them that there is a path to progress.   Study after study after study from the likes of PwC, Gallup, Deloitte, and LinkedIn shows that employees value growth and development in their careers.  If employees know there is a possibility for them to grow within a company, they’re more likely to stay.
