The more I learn, The more I realize how little I know. When I was in high school,  I was a House Captain and excelled at Olympiads. I thought I knew everything. I started preparing for JEE, and realized there was a lot more to learn. In my second year at college,  I started working. Began doing internships, learnt more. In my third year, I got an offer from a YC-backed company. But this time, I didn't let it get to my head. Because by this time, I had started learning a lot more - through books, tweets, LinkedIn posts, etc. I understood how much I was yet to understand. Now that I'm doing an MBA, and have had 3 full-time positions and 5 internships, I've realized: The more I learn, The more I realize how little I know. Today is #nationalinternday! 🎉 During college, I had three internships. One of my internship was with the Cincinnati Reds. This invaluable experience provided me with hands-on experience in real-world settings and allowing the space to "play ball" by applying classroom knowledge to practical tasks. ⚾ While the benefits of internships are known, what isn't discussed as much is what leaders gain by mentoring an intern. 5 reasons to mentor an intern: 1. I was in school when I started working... And it changed the way I saw education. Instead of all books and no experience, I began to understand things faster and see how companies operate in the real world. From solving business case studies to actually solving real business problems at a micro level, I gained perspective. During my summer internship, I've had the chance to learn and implement 5 key startegies- Internship Insights - 05/10 1. A good strategy doesn’t just draw on existing strength; it creates strength through the coherence of its design. 2. Good strategy requires leaders who are willing and able to say no to a wide variety of actions and interests. Strategy is at least as much about what an organization does not do as it is about what it does. 3. The Diminisher is an Empire Builder who acquires resources and then wastes them. The Multiplier is a Talent Magnet who utilizes and increases everyone’s genius. 4. The number one difference between a Nobel Prize winner and others is not IQ or work ethic, but that they ask bigger questions. 5. True Leaders provide a starting point but not a complete solution. In this way, they generate more questions than answers. These questions then encourage their team to fully define the opportunity while giving them confidence that they are building on a solid foundation.
