Raiffeisen Bank Scholar: Ognjen Zakic Junior Corporate Credit Risk Manager at Raiffeisen Bank I graduated from the London School of Economics and Political Science. I am currently a student in the Master in Computational Finance (MCF) program. I would like to emphasize two of the most important aspects of this program: First, flexibility. If you are working, you can still manage the program. I was doing an internship while studying, and with the support of colleagues and professors, I was able to overcome that challenge. Second, this master’s program is very engaging. There are many different projects and assignments, which I enjoy because they are highly practical. 💻 No prior programming or finance knowledge is required — just the motivation to learn! 🎓 Join the MCF Network: https://mcf.raf.edu.rs/ #ComputationalFinance #MastersEducation #RiskManagement #Bank #Finance

Inspiring our Future Finance Leaders at the Nairobi Securities Exchange (NSE)! This past week, our Bachelor of Commerce and Bachelor of Financial Services students had the privilege of visiting the NSE, where they were immersed in the dynamic world of capital markets and investment. 🌍📈 We were warmly welcomed by Nancy Nasimiyu, who gave an insightful session on the essentials of investing in the stock market, the various investment products available (equities, bonds, REITs, derivatives), and strategies to succeed in this ever-evolving industry. Her career motivation segment was especially impactful, providing students with invaluable advice on how to position themselves for success in finance. Sammy Yohana also delivered an engaging presentation on virtual trading and the NSE Investor Challenge, offering our students hands-on experience with real-time trading platforms. 💻 Moreover, Kenyan Wall Street representatives, Eric and Andrew, were on hand to offer internship opportunities—a fantastic pathway for students to apply their newly acquired knowledge in real-world settings. The feedback from the students has been overwhelming. One student shared that the visit broadened their understanding of various investment options, including the importance of fully grasping products before investing. Another student was inspired by the practical application of theories learned in class, especially during the virtual trading session. 🏦 It’s experiences like these that truly bridge the gap between academic learning and industry application, helping to shape the future of our finance professionals. Looking forward to seeing how our students leverage this experience in their careers! #FinanceEducation #CapitalMarkets #Investing #NSEAcademy #StudentExperience #StrathmoreBusinessSchool #FutureLeaders #FinanceCareers #FinancialServices #BCOM #BFS #RealWorldLearning

It's not everyday that a young woman from rural KZN wins the most prestigious employee award but yesterday was that day for me. I am extremely humble and honoured to have won the Standard Bank South Africa 2023 Mark of Excellence: Excellence in Action Award in the Business and Commercial Banking division. To have been a final nominee was an achievement on its own considering being the youngest in the Standard Bank Agribusiness team and having a little over 3 years of experience. Winning said award is definitely a bucket list moment. As the saying goes: "if I can see further, it's because I stand on the shoulder of giants"; I dedicate this win to the following: My parents whom have support me throughout my academic career and always believed in me and my dreams. My Agribusiness team whom welcomed me with open arms as a young graduate trainee in 2021. My colleagues have mentored, supported and helped me become the successful Senior Analyst that I am today. A word of advice to the young professionals that may read this: Believe in yourself, be delulu if you have to but also put in the work. Make mistakes but learn from them. Take constructive criticism head on and improve yourself. Most importantly, never compare yourself to anyone other than yourself. Often, young professionals get imposter syndrome or on the polar opposite feel like certain work task are below them. These feelings or opinions have no space in the corporate world if you want to grow your career. They will only set you back. Rather be proactive and hungry to learn as much as you can and be open to new challenges and opportunities. #standardbank #2023moe
