At the Alliance Against Seclusion and Restraint, we are working tirelessly to make that world a reality. Seclusion and restraint are harmful practices that affect numerous individuals and families, particularly those with children with disabilities, Black and brown children, and children with a trauma history. Our mission is to reduce and eliminate these practices and ensure safer schools for students, teachers, and staff. We need your help to continue this critical work. How do Playtime programs prepare children for a healthy, happy, and stable future? Our trauma-informed play curriculum is designed to support social-emotional learning skills, problem-solving skills, and optimism and hope for the future. Play is fun but it's also integral to a child's healthy development, especially for children experiencing housing insecurity or other trauma.
