Mission: Speaking up for abused and neglected children through Court Appointed Special Advocates, CASA volunteers.

About us

For over 35 years, Advocates for Children CASA has served abused and neglected children in Colorado’s 18th Judicial District (Arapahoe, Douglas, Lincoln and Elbert counties). CASA volunteers are trained to represent the best interests of children who have been removed from their homes due to abuse and neglect at the hands of those who are supposed to care for them. Each volunteer strives to ensure that all children dream, thrive, and grow with a sense of belonging and empowerment. Through the incredible strength of these volunteers, Advocates for Children CASA advocated for the safety and well-being of over 700 children last year, alone.

Updates

  • Colorado Gives Day may have passed, but it is not too late to give!   We know that instability and changes at home can cause a chronic stress response for children and youth that is detrimental to the developing brain. Research shows that a single caring adult can serve as a buffer against this toxic stress. CASA Volunteers, like Nora, are not only spending fun and positive time with children and youth, but they are creating safe spaces for young people to heal, grow, and be themselves.   With donations from supporters like you, we can ensure that even more children and youth have access to safe spaces. Every child deserves to have a Nora. Please make your donation by visiting this link: https://lnkd.in/gDaKTH53

  • When Nancy tells Yasmin she's going to show up, she shows up. We know that this stability is capable of changing a child's story, instilling hope, and providing opportunities for them to dream, thrive, and grow. Studies have shown that over time, one consistent adult dedicated to a child’s well-being can make a huge difference in the trajectory of a young person's life - especially one who has entered the child welfare system. For instance, the steady involvement of a CASA Volunteer, like Nancy, has proven to reduce the amount of time a child may spend in foster care, to ensure the child and family have access to vital resources, and to support the reunification of families whenever possible. With your help, we can continue to ensure that every child feels the support, safety, and security of a consistent adult. Your donation today, on Giving Tuesday, will go towards the programming and resources that make the best-interest advocacy and individualized support of CASA Volunteers like Nancy possible. • Special moments between a child and their CASA Volunteer are priceless. They stem from consistency, compassion, and care. At Advocates for Children CASA, we want to support CASA Volunteers in building sustainable and long-lasting relationships with their assigned child(ren)/youth through regular visits. This guide provides ideas for cost-effective or free activities for children of all ages. We hope this brings inspiration, excitement, and joy into the planning of your next visit!   For any specific resource questions or thoughts, please feel free to reach out to our Development Coordinator, Georgia Reiss, at georgia_reiss@adv4children.org

  • We are so honored to receive a donation from 100 Women Who Care Douglas County! Thank you to our two wonderful volunteers who nominated us, Joelle and Grace, and to the more than 150 women who contributed to this generous donation. These funds will help ensure our children and families have the resources, items, and necessities they need to start 2025 off strong.

  • According to National CASA, children and youth with a CASA volunteer reported higher levels of hope than those without a volunteer. A child’s hope has been linked to numerous positive outcomes such as academic success, overall wellbeing, increases in self-control, positive social relationships and optimism. You can bring this hope to a child this holiday season by supporting Advocates for Children CASA! Please consider making a donation between now and December 10 in honor of Colorado Gives Day at https://lnkd.in/gDaKTH53 Thank you for your support!
