It's Mental Health Action Day today! 🌍 SameSame is proud to partner with MTV and mental health orgs across the world to spread the message that mental health IS health and there are simple things we can all do, every day, to improve our mental health and support those around us. It’s what our chatbot does for LGBTQI+ young people — helps them take action, in spite of all the challenges they face 🤖💪🏾 You can take action by being a better friend to those going through tough times. The team at MTV came up with a neat acronym that might help the next time you find someone in your life needs support — A.S.K for Acknowledge, Support and Keep-in-touch. ✅ Acknowledge and validate feelings, ✅ ask how you can support and ✅ check back in regularly and consistently.

🗓️May is Mental Health Awareness Month... According to a 2023 Bankrate.com survey, 52% of adults say money has a "negative impact" on their mental health. 🧠Perhaps that is because our brains are not built for this. Availability Bias causes us to think that the possibility of an event is increased if we can remember it happening previously. 🦈 Shark attacks are horrific, receive a lot of media attention, and are turned into movies and TV shows. Thus, they are extremely memorable despite being extremely rare. The television show Myth Busters found that ten times more people were killed by falling coconuts in a year than by shark attacks. Beware of that next Pina Colada! Remember, you're not alone in this. 🎯Dedicated help, comprehensive advice, and reliable solutions are available to provide you with the confidence and clarity you need.

In the digital age, social media has become a significant part of our lives. It connects us with friends and family, provides us with news and entertainment, and allows us to share our thoughts and experiences. However, it also has a darker side, one that can significantly affect our mental health. This underscores the importance of promoting kindness on social media platforms. The link between social media and mental health is real. Research shows that increased use of social platforms is linked to higher rates of anxiety, depression, and poor sleep quality. Negative interactions, like cyberbullying, can make these issues worse. But there's a simple solution: Kindness. By promoting kindness online, we can reduce toxicity and create positive spaces for everyone. Caroline Flack's powerful words remind us, 'In a world where you can be anything, be kind.' This poignant reminder underscores the profound impact our words and actions can have on others, both offline and online. At X-Calibre Mental Health, we strongly support this initiative. We believe that by promoting kindness on social media, we can create a more supportive online environment that positively impacts mental health. Remember, it's okay not to be okay, and reaching out for help is a sign of strength. If you or someone you know is struggling with mental health issues, please seek help from a professional. #SocialMediaKindnessDay #SocialMediaKindness #MentalHealthMatters #MentalHealthAwareness #SpreadKindness #XCalibreMentalHealth #MentalHealthTraining

July is BIPOC Mental Health Awareness Month This month, we spotlight the unique challenges that Black, Indigenous, and People of Color face regarding mental health in the United States. Fear of judgment, cultural beliefs, generational differences, and lack of access to resources often prevent individuals in these communities from openly addressing their struggles and seeking the help they need. What can we do? *Foster open, honest conversations about mental health *Break the silence surrounding mental health issues in BIPOC communities *Create supportive environments that prioritize mental wellness and healing Let's commit to overcoming these barriers together. Breaking the silence is a crucial step toward healing and ensuring that mental health care is accessible and effective for everyone. #BIPOCMentalHealthMonth #BreakTheSilence #MentalHealthAwareness

June is Men's Mental Health Awareness Month, and it's a reminder for all of us to check in on the men in our lives. As a society, we often put pressure on men to always be strong and to not show vulnerability, but it's important to remember that it's okay to not be okay. Middle-aged men have the highest rate of suicide around the world. This is a staggering statistic that highlights the need for more open conversations about men's mental health. Let's use this month as an opportunity to break down the stigma surrounding men's mental health and encourage open and honest conversations. Check in on your friends, family members, and co-workers. Let them know that it's okay to talk about their feelings and seek help when needed. We all have a role to play in supporting each other's mental health, and by creating a more understanding and compassionate environment, we can make a positive impact on the lives of those around us. Remember, it's okay to not be okay, and seeking help is a sign of strength, not weakness. Let's use this month to support and uplift the men in our lives. #MensMentalHealthAwarenessMonth #ItsOkayToNotBeOkay

Even as the day draws to a close on the west coast, it's important to acknowledge that today, October 10th, is recognized globally as World Mental Health Day. Over the past 25 years, this day has gained significant recognition, despite the lingering stigma around mental health issues. Progress has been made in recognizing mental health as a legitimate health concern, impacting individuals regardless of age, gender, race, or political affiliation. According to the National Institutes of Health (NIH), 57.8 million adults are living with some form of mental illness, with 23.08% experiencing a mental health condition in the past year. Just like no one chooses to fall ill with a physical ailment, individuals do not choose to battle conditions such as depression, anxiety, or OCD. It's crucial to offer the same empathy, support, and care to those dealing with mental health challenges as we would for any other health issue. Let's work together to end the stigma surrounding mental health. #WorldMentalHealthDay #EndTheStigma

🌟 Embracing Kindness: A Pillar of Mental Health Awareness 🌟 At The Silver Threads Foundation, we believe in the transformative power of kindness. In a world where mental health struggles are prevalent, practicing kindness towards others can make a significant difference in someone's life. Research has shown that acts of kindness not only benefit the recipient but also have positive effects on the giver's mental well-being. Whether it's a simple smile, a kind word, or a thoughtful gesture, every act of kindness contributes to creating a more compassionate and supportive community. Especially in challenging times, such as those we've experienced recently, extending kindness to others can serve as a beacon of hope and positivity. It reminds us that we are not alone in our struggles and that small acts of kindness can have a ripple effect, spreading positivity and uplifting those around us. As we continue our mission of promoting mental health awareness, let's remember the importance of being kind to others.
