Avoid needing a vacation from vacation by keeping these 9 things in mind… It’s a worthwhile reminder: We live in a society where the entire system is based on productivity and efficiency. Therefore... Any guilty or anxious feelings that come up as you treat yourself during vacation is normal… It’s your nervous system unplugging from the matrix of constant productivity and it feels off that you're letting yourself relax. That said, if you want some help to yield to the relaxation of vacation... Here are 9 things to avoid, as inspired by the Enneagram type strategies… 1️⃣ Avoid scheduling every moment. Try to embrace some spontaneity and let go of the urge to make everything perfect. Allow yourself to experience the imperfections and unexpected moments that come with travel. 2️⃣ Avoid prioritizing others’ needs over your own. Remember that it’s your vacation too. Set boundaries and ensure you’re doing activities that replenish and excite you, not just what pleases others. 3️⃣ Avoid work-related communications and setting performance goals for the vacation. Try to disconnect from your work identity and focus on rest and pleasure without any targets or achievements. 4️⃣ Avoid dwelling on what could be better or what’s missing from the trip. Embrace the present and focus on the unique experiences at hand, rather than what might be lacking. 5️⃣ Avoid over-planning or spending too much time alone. Engage with the world around you. Try to balance solitary activities with interactive experiences that stimulate your curiosity. 6️⃣ Avoid excessive worrying about what could go wrong. Trust that you can handle any situation that arises and try to enjoy the spontaneity and adventure that comes with travel. 7️⃣ Avoid packing your schedule with too many activities. While it’s tempting to fill every moment with excitement, take time to relax and soak in your surroundings deeply. 8️⃣ Avoid taking control of planning and decision-making for the group. Let others have a say, and try to go with the flow. This can lead to unexpected, enjoyable experiences you might not have planned yourself. 9️⃣ Avoid going along with what everyone else wants to do without expressing your own preferences. Speak up about what you would like to do; your opinion matters, and finding activities that fulfill you is essential for a truly relaxing vacation.
