SUMMER HOLIDAYS ⛱ ☀ 🌇 Thinking about holidays is exciting! Numerous ideas flood our #minds, such as beaches, sunshine, family time, and pure relaxation. It fills us with joy because we will finally have the #opportunity to unwind and indulge in whatever brings us happiness. On the one hand, #planning a holiday requires meticulous attention to detail to achieve our desired goals. We should establish a #budget, carefully considering how much we will spend versus our #expenses on our holiday. This includes factors like accommodation costs, where we envision staying during our holiday, and the #duration of our stay. We also consider the type of food and beverages available, assessing the variety and the associated costs. Transportation is another aspect to consider, whether it involves renting a car for convenient mobility or purchasing tickets for air travel. Furthermore, we explore the range of #activities available, noting that while some may be included with the hotel reservation, the most intriguing ones often require additional fees, which may vary depending on factors such as the weather. On the other hand, family is the cornerstone of our holiday plans. Their needs and schedules guide our decision-making process. For instance, determining the #timing of our vacation hinges on aligning it with the holidays of both spouses, considering the time required for employees to request and have their vacation approved at work. We also consider the school days, exams, and extracurricular activities of our children. Access to streaming TV and Wi-Fi is also considered, ensuring that everyone can stay connected and entertained. Ultimately, their preferences shape our destination choices. It may seem overwhelming to consider so many factors for a perfect holiday, and indeed it is! However, the key lies in careful planning to maximize the opportunity and select the best options available. See you on my next adventure. Credit to the image creator.

I’m about to start my summer holiday – 3 weeks of minimal time on computers, in Teams and Zoom, or working with excels and power points. My plan is to spend a lot of time enjoying the Finnish nature - cabin life, starting and ending my days with a swim, kayaking, wandering in forests, perhaps picking a few blueberries along the way... Time alone as well as time with family and friends. Slow, relaxing mornings and enough days with little program to give my mind and body a break from work routines and schedules. 🛶 🏊♀️ 🧘♀️ That might sound a bit boring for those who want action and adventure, perhaps in new, exotic places. 😎 We all have different holiday needs and wishes and it's a great idea to identify your needs and make sure that your holiday includes at least some of them. Otherwise, it's easy to get caught up in the "way things have always been done" or fulfilling the wishes of others day after day, and end up with a drained battery. Not every holiday can or has to be a “once-in-a-lifetime dream holiday”. Sometimes simple is enough, if we just let it be. 🌅 Below my #Firstbeat blog from last summer, with some thoughts on the "right way" to take a holiday... Enjoy your time off when it’s time for that – see you in August! #summerholiday #resilience #relaxation #energy

I revisit the same place every year for a holiday. Some might say, it’s a waste of money visiting the same places over and over again. But, for me, the best getaway is when I return to Seoul every year with my wife. We’ve been doing this for the past 4-5 years, and it’s become a practical way to relax and reset. As someone who spends every day problem-solving and flexing my creative muscles at work, going back to a familiar place allows me to run on autopilot. This frees up my mind to truly enjoy our time together without the stress of planning, beating the clock, or trying to check off tourist spots. We know exactly where we want to go—the cafes to visit, the neighbourhoods to stroll through. Plus, it’s funny how this approach ties back to automation. In business, automation removes unnecessary decisions. It frees up time to focus on what truly matters. Vacations can work the same way. Returning to a familiar spot takes the stress out of planning. It lets me focus on recharging and enjoying quality time instead. So, for any business owners looking to relax and take a meaningful break instead of chasing every new adventure, my tip is to have a “go-to” spot. You’ll save time on planning, feel at ease from the start, and achieve the mental break that’s often hard to find on a packed vacation. Do you have a go-to vacation spot? — - - - - - - — Hey, I’m Eric, and I help business owners make life easier with smart custom automation. ⚡️ Here, I share stories about automation, life as a founder, and tackling those everyday business pain points. 5 Ways to Maximize Public Holidays 1. Have a plan You should plan for public holiday periods the same way you plan your workdays. Have a set out plan of the activities you want to do and the places you want to go to. Although this doesn’t necessarily mean you will do exactly as you have planned, it is still important that you start the holiday knowing what you want to get out of it. Remember, without plans, the holidays will pass by and you’ll end up not doing anything. 2. Do something different The public holiday should always be your clue to step out of your usual routine and try new things, go for adventures, and cross out an item off your bucket list. Also set aside time to relax and connect with yourself like reading a book by your favourite author, walking on a beach, going on a spa date, or doing yoga. Make sure to put away anything that will get you worked up unnecessarily. 3. Explore fun places in your city You can set a radius of how far you’re willing to go and then find fun new places to visit, check out fun places in Nairobi for a start. While choosing the places you would love to go to, remember to consider your safety, how accessible the places are, and a couple of reviews of the place just so your day goes right. If you’ve got these right, then it’s time to let your hair down, give room to your inner child, and go have some fun. 4. Let go of your phone and computers for this period Decide to not worry about the next text coming in and instead focus on the moment. One thing a lot of us forget to do is savour the moments we have. Allow yourself to focus on the moment at hand, rather than worrying if that text came in or if they texted back. 5. Outsource chores if you can If doing chores is your hobby or you don’t have the resources to outsource these chores, you should pay someone else to do it for you. Not only does it allow you to experience a soft life it also gives you enough time to rest, relax, and go out to have fun. .................................................................... #JamhuriDay2024 #JamhuriDayStaycation #Staycation #Getaway #PublicHolidayEscape #MidWeekEscape #RelaxAndRecharge #HolidayRetreat #TakeABreak
