5 Simple Ways to Celebrate the Festive Season 1. Baking We’re all looking for a little bit of normalcy in a year that has turned our lives upside down. Baking is a fun family activity that will stir up a bit of festive cheer. The smell of Christmas cookies in the oven will create a homey feel and the finished products will give you all a sense of accomplishment. The best part is, you get to enjoy some yummy homemade festive treats. 2. Get a Little Crafty Get those creative juices flowing by creating cards and decorations with some personal flair. Crafting will help take your mind off of all of your worries for a little bit. Your creation doesn’t have to be complicated, work with what you have and get everyone involved. Try using some recycled materials so you’re helping out the planet too – a double dose of good feels! You can take some inspiration from our previous DIY Décor Ideas blog, simply use some wrapping paper or holiday-themed trinkets to make them more festive. 3. Keep in Touch Small gatherings are going to be common this festive season with most people opting for more intimate family celebrations. This being said, keeping in touch with the people that matter in our lives is so important. A video call with extended family or close friends can make the distance between you more bearable, and brighten up your day and theirs. Since many of us may have had to switch international travel plans for local trips, you may want to think of some creative ways to get the overseas family involved in your festivities. 4. Watch Christmas Movies Spending an afternoon or evening watching Christmas movies is a must! (You could also spread out your movie marathon over the course of a week.) Let each family member choose a favorite holiday flick to watch with the family. Cuddle up under blankets with a warm cup of cocoa and some popcorn to make it feel extra special. 5. Family Recipes The tastes and smells of good recipes passed down from generation to generation can be a real pick-me-up. It’s extra special to share these with younger members of the family and get them involved in the process. Whether it’s the perfect roast or a special ingredient in great granny’s bread and butter pud, that personal touch will bring back memories and provide a great topic for conversation – depending on how willing you are to share your precious recipes. .................................................................. Here's Why A Christmas Getaway Is A Must! 1. You get to explore a different city Many cities around the country are perfect weekend trips at any time of the year, but for Christmas, they are even more magical! Around the festive season, Nairobi is a hub of cheer – many places in the city offer a Christmas experience that’s perfect for all the family. 2. More time to spend time with loved ones Christmas is all about spending time together as a family and there’s no better way to do this than changing the scene and taking time away from your busy life. By staying away, you can discover a new city or re-explore one you’ve visited before – but this time, with a festive twist! There are a variety of different places you can go to where you don’t need to worry about the stresses of hosting at Christmas, which means you can focus 100% of your attention on the people who matter the most. 3. Saves you money Whilst going away may seem like a costly venture, it doesn’t have to be! Whether you’re staying away for just a couple of days or a week, it doesn’t have to cost a lot – it’s the memories that are the most important thing to focus on! Maybe instead of buying gifts for everyone, you can treat them to a short getaway over the holidays. Not only that, but you can also avoid the rush of the Christmas shoppers! 4. It’s easier to relax Imagine this – you wake up on Christmas morning, exchange gifts with your loved ones and then instead of worrying about preparing your Christmas dinner, you walk down to a restaurant where a Christmas dinner will be waiting for you! Hosting your family and friends around the festive season can cause stress, especially if you are the one who cooks the dinner. Staying away means that you don’t need to stress about making sure the vegetables are ready in time for the turkey – food can be provided so you can relax and focus on catching up with your family and friends. 5. You don’t have to cook the Christmas dinner As much as we all love a good Christmas dinner, having to cook it is one of the more stressful parts of Christmas – especially if you’re cooking for a lot of people! When you plan a getaway for Christmas Day, you have the opportunity to put your feet up and enjoy the day without the looming thought of having to cook. You can also spend the day visiting the area, as you’re not spending hours in the kitchen – it gives you plenty of time to make some memories with family and friends, especially if you have young children. ................................................................. #servicedapartments #furnishedapartments #nairobi #holidays #holidayseason #HolidayStaycation #HolidayComfort #ServicedApartmentLiving #HomeForTheHolidays #ServicedLiving #HolidayHomeAway #ServicedLuxury #StayYourWay

Jamhuri and Madaraka are both Swahili words that refer to national holidays in Kenya that commemorate the country's independence from British colonial rule: Jamhuri: The Swahili word for "republic" or "independence". Jamhuri Day is celebrated on December 12th to mark Kenya's independence from the British in 1963 and its establishment as a republic in 1964. Madaraka: The Swahili word for "freedom". Madaraka Day is celebrated on June 1st to mark Kenya's attainment of internal self-rule from the British in 1963. Jamhuri Day is regarded as Kenya's most important day, marked by numerous festivities that celebrate the country's cultural heritage and look back at her journey to independence and self-governance. Remember that Jamhuri Day is a time for celebration and reflection, and how you choose to observe it depends on your personal preferences and interests. Whether you prefer a festive community event or a quiet day of reflection, the key is to appreciate the significance of the day for Kenya and its people. ......................................................................... #Kenya #IndependenceDay #Jamhuriday #Jamhuriday2024 #PublicHoliday

5 Ways to Maximize Public Holidays 1. Have a plan You should plan for public holiday periods the same way you plan your workdays. Have a set out plan of the activities you want to do and the places you want to go to. Although this doesn’t necessarily mean you will do exactly as you have planned, it is still important that you start the holiday knowing what you want to get out of it. Remember, without plans, the holidays will pass by and you’ll end up not doing anything. 2. Do something different The public holiday should always be your clue to step out of your usual routine and try new things, go for adventures, and cross out an item off your bucket list. Also set aside time to relax and connect with yourself like reading a book by your favourite author, walking on a beach, going on a spa date, or doing yoga. Make sure to put away anything that will get you worked up unnecessarily. 3. Explore fun places in your city You can set a radius of how far you’re willing to go and then find fun new places to visit, check out fun places in Nairobi for a start. While choosing the places you would love to go to, remember to consider your safety, how accessible the places are, and a couple of reviews of the place just so your day goes right. If you’ve got these right, then it’s time to let your hair down, give room to your inner child, and go have some fun. 4. Let go of your phone and computers for this period Decide to not worry about the next text coming in and instead focus on the moment. One thing a lot of us forget to do is savour the moments we have. Allow yourself to focus on the moment at hand, rather than worrying if that text came in or if they texted back. 5. Outsource chores if you can If doing chores is your hobby or you don’t have the resources to outsource these chores, you should pay someone else to do it for you. Not only does it allow you to experience a soft life it also gives you enough time to rest, relax, and go out to have fun. .................................................................... #JamhuriDay2024 #JamhuriDayStaycation #Staycation #Getaway #PublicHolidayEscape #MidWeekEscape #RelaxAndRecharge #HolidayRetreat #TakeABreak
