Midweek lunches are the perfect pause to reconnect and rejuvenate, especially when shared with an incredible team. Today, we gathered for ,a well-deserved break, savoring one of Malaysia’s most beloved dishes: Nasi Lemak. Each fragrant bite, from the coconut rice (reminiscing my childhood experience) to the spicy sambal, was a reminder of the richness of our shared experiences and the warmth that comes from working together. Conversations flowed as freely as the delicious flavors, turning the meal into more than just lunch—it became a time of connection and gratitude. We shared stories, laughter, and reflections that strengthened the bonds we rely on every day. These moments remind us that appreciation isn’t just shown through words or results but through simple, shared moments over a plate of our national treasure. Here’s to many more meals, great company, and continued success as a team. Cheers to the little things that bring us together! PS: Its very important to have an “attitude of gratitude.”

Last week, I had the incredible opportunity to lead an online keynote session titled "Cracking the Code: Happiness" for the vibrant team at HEINEKEN Beverages We dived deep into the transformative power of connection and its pivotal role in enhancing our well-being and happiness levels. Drawing on compelling research and personal stories, we explored how fostering genuine connections—both within and outside the workplace—can significantly uplift our mental, emotional, and physical health. 📌 Here are three immediate action steps you can take to elevate your well-being and happiness: ➡ Prioritize Connection: Make it a daily practice to contact someone. A simple message, a quick call, or a meaningful conversation can make a big difference. Remember, quality trumps quantity. ➡ Embrace Compassion: Start with self-compassion. Be kind to yourself, especially on tough days. Then, extend that kindness outward through acts of compassion to others. This creates a ripple effect of positivity. ➡ Cultivate a Gratitude Practice: Jot down three things you’re grateful for each day. Gratitude shifts your focus from what’s lacking to the abundance around you, fostering a sense of contentment and joy. The enthusiastic participation and feedback from the Heineken team was beyond inspiring. It was a vivid reminder that in the hustle of hitting targets and deadlines, connecting genuinely, practicing compassion, and embracing gratitude can transform our work environment and lives. Let's not forget, the journey to happiness and well-being is both personal and collective. By taking small steps towards nurturing our connections and practicing kindness, we can create waves of positive change, in our workplaces and beyond. #WellBeing #Happiness #Connection #Heineken #Keynote #Leadership #PersonalDevelopment #KeynoteSpeaker

As I look back on my journey in the hospitality industry, one lesson stands out: the power of a simple smile. I’ve always believed that true hospitality goes beyond just serving a meal; it's about creating experiences that stay with people. Every day, I remind myself and my team of the impact we can have by being the reason someone smiles. I remember one evening at Spice Village, a guest walked in looking stressed. It was clear that life had been tough on her. Our team could have just taken her order, served her, and moved on. But I believe hospitality is more than that. It’s about making connections and helping people feel like they belong. So, we took the time to talk to her, to make her feel welcome and valued. We didn’t just serve her a meal; we gave her a moment of peace and comfort in a world that can sometimes feel overwhelming. By the time she left, her frown had turned into a smile. That one smile said it all. It reminded me that the heart of what we do isn’t just in the food we serve, but in the warmth we share. This is what I’ve always believed: In 2024, it’s not just about delivering a service—it’s about creating an experience that stays in people’s hearts long after they’ve left. It’s about being the reason someone smiles, especially on days when they need it the most. So, in your day-to-day, whether you’re in hospitality or another field: * Take an extra minute to ask how someone’s really doing. * Go the extra mile to make someone feel seen and appreciated. * Be the reason someone smiles today, and see how that small gesture can change their whole day. Because here’s the thing: A simple act of kindness can create ripples far beyond what we can see. It can turn a tough day into a good one, a frown into a smile, and a fleeting moment into a lasting memory. That’s the power of genuine human connection. And in my experience, it’s what sets apart those who simply do their job from those who make a real difference. Big thanks to everyone who’s out there, putting people first every single day. 👏 Let’s keep leading with kindness, empathy, and a commitment to making the world a little brighter. #Hospitality #CustomerExperience #HumanConnection #Leadership #PositiveImpact #CreatingMemories #KindnessMatters #GoingTheExtraMile #HospitalityIndustry #Inspiration #Entrepreneurship #restaurantmanagement

Three Colleagues to Thank This Week November comes replete with reminders to practice gratitude. Reminding ourselves of the many gifts in our life has profound advantages to our mental-health and professional outlook. You can extend the benefits by not only feeling gratitude, but expressing it to others. Take just a few moments to share your thanks with these 3 coworkers: (https://bit.ly/4fXo8xw) The colleague you always turn to. When you’re blindsided by a setback or you get news of a project’s success, who do you tell first? Share your gratitude with your coworker. Thank them for always being in the trenches with you, shouldering your burdens and relishing your victories. The colleague who does unseen work. Who are the members of your team or support staff who do thankless jobs that enable your individual projects and departments as a whole to be successful? Take time to offer your genuine thanks and assure them that their contribution is noticed and valued. The colleague who inspires you. There are people in your institution who model the values, practices, and skills that you emulate. This might be someone you know well or appreciate from a distance. Take a moment to let them know that the way they order their professional life encourages your own development and ambitions.

A curious thing I've noticed is that when someone does their job well, it often feels exceptional. We often shower them with many thanks, when well-done work should be the standard, shouldn't it? This got me thinking: when did good work become synonymous with exceptional work? I think doing your job well, consistently and reliably, is the baseline expectation. It shouldn't be surprising or shocking. It's like a delicious meal at a restaurant - you wouldn't expect a parade for the chef simply doing their job well, would you? It seems like somewhere along the way, "just doing our jobs" became a cause for celebration. When someone puts in a lot of effort and goes above and beyond, that's fantastic! This is something that needs to be noticed, celebrated, and thanked. But simply doing a good job is the standard we should all live up to. Half-hearted effort shouldn't be the baseline. What are your thoughts on this?

🌟 Expectations 🌟 In a recent conversation with a candidate, I was reminded of the power of expectations. He shared a disappointing experience of poor customer service at a restaurant he chose for his wedding anniversary. It got me thinking about how our expectations shape our experiences in life. We've all been there – planning something meticulously, only to have it fall short of our expectations, leaving us feeling unfulfilled or frustrated. Our expectations are often built upon past experiences, like recalling the service quality of a restaurant from a previous visit. So, where am I heading with this? It's about recalibrating our expectations. Lowering them, even. By doing so, we open ourselves up to pleasant surprises. Whether it's how our day unfolds or the outcome of a getaway, managing our expectations can lead to a more enjoyable experience. Consider this: There are people around the world who face profound challenges, who live their daily lives with immense happiness devoid of the expectations for material wealth held by those who appear to "have it all" It's a humbling reminder that sometimes, less expectation leads to more contentment. In essence, as the saying goes, "When you have expectations, you are setting yourself up for disappointment." Let's aim for anticipation tempered with a dose of realism, and watch as life unfolds in delightful ways beyond our imaginings. 🌟 #Expectations #PerspectiveShift #LifeLessons

Tea is like our daily rescue, giving us comfort, a boost of energy, and a chance to connect with our colleagues in the chaos of our workdays. In the corporate sector, tea time is sacred. It's more than just a break; it's a ritual that brings us together. Each of us has our unique way of savoring this beloved brew. For some, the first tea break happens the moment they walk into the office, a kickoff to a productive day. Some of us love to use tea time for a good gossip session, catching up on the latest office news and sharing a laugh. Others find their tea break incomplete without a cigarette, pairing the warmth of the tea with a moment of relaxation. Then there are those who can’t imagine their tea without biscuits or a snack, turning the break into a small, delightful indulgence. To celebrate this International Tea Day, we’ve put together a short video capturing these cherished tea moments. It shows how tea breaks allow us to unwind, bond with our office buddies, and share some light-hearted moments, making our workdays a little brighter and more enjoyable. We’d love to hear from you! Tell us in the comment section how often you take tea breaks and share your favorite tea-time rituals. Don’t forget to tag your tea buddy and let’s celebrate the joy of tea together! #mentorsol #internationalteaday #teatime #corporatereels #officereels #officememes #explorepage #trendingreel #viralreel #foryoupage

“The Power of a Simple ‘Hi’ and ‘Bye’: In the fast-paced world of hospitality, it’s easy to get caught up in the busyness of our daily tasks. But remember, one of the most important things we can do for our team is to acknowledge them—every day. The ‘shake in and shake out’ rule isn’t just about routine; it’s about connection. When we take a moment to greet each other with a simple ‘hi’ in the morning and ‘bye’ at the end of the day, we’re showing respect, appreciation, and that we care. These small gestures create a positive atmosphere and build trust within the team. They remind us that every associate plays a crucial role in our success. Let’s not underestimate the power of these moments—because they add up. Let’s make it a habit to pause, acknowledge, and appreciate the people we work with, every single day.”

🥃 Happy International Whisky Day, everyone! Bet you didn’t expect to read about whisky on LinkedIn, did you? But hang on, there's a twist. It’s not just about raising a glass; it’s a nod to the passions and hobbies that colour our lives outside the "office". I've been a casual whisky fan for years, but only recently dove deep into the world of Scotch and Irish whiskey. It's been a fascinating journey beyond just savouring flavours, and here’s why it matters for us as professionals. Hobbies like whisky tasting teach us to appreciate the nuances, the craftsmanship behind a product, and the cultural stories in each bottle. Not to mention the connections we create with people through through shared passions. And that reflects a lot on how we approach all our challenges and goals in business. So, here’s a toast to hobbies that enrich our lives and subtly blend into our work ethic. How do your hobbies influence your professional perspective? P.S. Did you know? 'Whiskey' with an 'e' is for the Irish and Americans. 'Whisky', without the 'e', is for the rest of the whisky-loving world. Let’s chat about your favourite dram or how your passions crossover into your work! 🌍 #InternationalWhiskyDay #WorkLifeBalance #HobbiesAndWork #LinkedInCommunity
