What would life look like if more young people had greater access to beautiful places like the one pictured here in Great Smoky Mountains National Park? What if your city or town had a greater tree canopy? What if land managers had all the resources they need to appropriately care for and protect our amazing public spaces? I think it would be pretty rad. The good folks at REI have made it easy for you advocate for the outdoors through three core areas: climate action, outdoor equity, and places we love. Follow the link below to choose which one you’re most passionate about (or if you’re like me you can choose all three) and let your elected officials know! https://lnkd.in/ea2GpZiR

Rebuilding Jasper will take a long-term effort. It is nice to see that starting September 6, Parks Canada will open several trails within @jaspernationalpark. Jasper can learn from other communities and parks forced to rebuild following severe natural disasters. These communities and parks have found that trails and recreational infrastructure were crucial to their mental, physical, and economic recovery. These assets offer far more than just recreation; they offer well-documented health benefits from exposure to nature, economic revival, environmental restoration, safety, and resilience in future events. For these reasons, Jasper’s post-fire restoration plans must include access to roads, trails, and campgrounds. Many thanks to @the Government of Canada Government of Alberta, Parks Canada @Jasper National Park and the Municipality of Jasper for working together efficiently to manage the enormous task of rebuilding this wonderful place. https://lnkd.in/gtiE3qDF

This is such an important conversation, and to have it effectively it has to include policy, scale, financing, workforce development, rates, innovation, DERs, data, and more. There’s no isolating efficiency from electrification or decarbonization or affordability; it’s all connected, and it especially has to be in this sector. We will do our best to acknowledge this complexity, share some real experiences, and surface opportunities for leaning in. See you in KOP!

Greg Walcher articulates a perspective I've been contemplating for some time. His insights into the complexities of the Dolores National Monument proposal resonate with my own thoughts, especially considering the recent resolution passed by the City of Grand Junction Council in support of the monument. I’ve been hesitant to voice my concerns, but this article has encouraged me to share my reflections on the potential impacts. More to come—stay tuned! #PublicLands #ConservationDebate #DoloresCanyons #EnvironmentalPolicy #WesternSlope
