***From Corporate to GP Practice: My Biggest Lesson So Far*** Making the jump from the corporate world to a GP practice has been a bit of a culture shock (in the best possible way). And if there’s one lesson that’s really hit home, it’s this: Community is everything. In the corporate space, there’s often a big focus on personal KPIs, climbing the ladder, and keeping your head down to get things done. But here in the GP practice, it’s all about looking out for each other. It’s a true “one hand washes the other” environment, and honestly, it’s refreshing. Whether it’s helping a patient find the right care, pitching in when a colleague’s swamped, or collaborating with local services to offer better support, every little gesture matters. It’s about rolling up our sleeves and working together, knowing that what we do for each other has a way of coming back around. This shift has taught me that real impact isn’t about individual success—it’s about building connections, sharing the load, and creating a space where everyone thrives. I’m excited to keep learning from this fantastic community, and I’m grateful to be part of a team where we’re all pulling together. Weekly Reflection 3MTT - Week 12 When you’re trying to get from point A to point B, nothing is more frustrating than unreliable public transportation. I’ve seen first-hand how it can impact people’s lives, long waits, missed appointments, and just the stress of not knowing when or if you’ll get to your destination on time. Recently, I was able to step in and help a community solve this issue, using a blend of strategy, data, and communication. It all started with understanding the real frustrations of daily commuters: delayed buses, overcrowded trains, and limited route access. The issue wasn’t just inconvenience, it was a disconnect between what people needed and what the system offered. So, I took a step back and started by asking: What can make their experience better? I believe in listening to the people directly affected. Through surveys, community forums, and one-on-one conversations, I gathered data to pinpoint the exact pain points commuters faced. Not only that, but I also analyzed travel patterns, identifying under-served routes and peak traffic times. This step was crucial because understanding the problem from the ground up allowed me to create targeted, actionable solutions. Using my product management skills, I developed a plan to optimize transportation routes, making sure key areas were better connected. I also suggested launching a user-friendly app that allowed commuters to track buses in real-time, reducing frustration caused by uncertainty. My social media expertise came into play here as well, I rolled out an awareness campaign, educating users on the new updates and building a sense of trust in the changes. The outcome? Wait times dropped, ridership went up, and commuters felt more in control of their journey. By focusing on what the community really needed, we were able to improve not just transportation, but the daily lives of thousands of people.
