"Hey Zomato, here's a thought. Your focus on customers is fantastic, I know the customer is the center point of sale for you, and the feedback system around customer centricity is robust as well. The way the company handles customer grievances is extraordinary. However, what about the restaurant owners? Our grievances are not heard in the right way. We can't provide feedback on the customer as there is no availability of any system for that. All the owners can do is raise a ticket on your portal, which might sometimes go unheard. A small suggestion: The feedback system, should work both ways, and the restaurant should have the power to rate the customer. That way, we can all contribute to making Zomato even better."

Ordering food online could be confusing - going through the long menu, deciding what to eat, mixing and matching different items to check what fits your budget. This is a real pain point for many (especially when you’re hungry and your brain gives up) Taco Bell understood the problem - their "Name Your Price" feature lets you set a spending limit upfront. Then it generates mix-and-match menu options that fit your budget. You can even pin specific items to your order. This shows they’ve truly spent a time lot of their time identifying their user’s pain points. This could be an interesting experiment for the PMs at Swiggy & Zomato as well - giving users the option to cap their budget or calories. Because honestly, the shorter & easier the process, the happier the customers.

Zomato's new Ratings by Distance feature is enhancing the food ordering experience by acknowledging a critical pain point: food temperature and its correlation with freshness and taste! Recognizing that the warmth of a meal significantly impacts customer satisfaction, Zomato has integrated distance-based ratings into its platform. This allows users to see how people who ordered from similar proximity as them rated the food. Zomato does not calculate ratings based on average of reviews anymore. It is MORE! It uses a propriety algorithm that shows the rating based on your distance from it, uses machine learning to accounts recency and filters for genuine reviews. This innovation not only enhances the ordering experience but also drives business value by increasing order frequency and encouraging customers to support local eateries.
