Sometimes the simplest ideas create the biggest impact. When Karlijn van den Boomen and I planned a workshop (as part of Corporate Rebels Global Rebel Meetup) for nearly 100 like-minded people passionate about self-management, we knew we wanted to try a "Speed Dating" format to spark meaningful connections. Here’s how it worked: 👉 Setup: A (very) long table where everyone sat opposite someone new. 👉 5 minutes: Each pair had a quick chat with optional icebreaker questions on the table. 👉 Switch: After 5 minutes, a bell signaled everyone to move one seat clockwise. The best part? Most didn’t even need the prompts. When you’re surrounded by people who share your passions, 5 minutes is all it takes to dive straight into real conversations. Simple structure. Visible profiles and contributions increase your chances of making connections and give you access to resources and feedback that can improve your work. Food for thought: - if someone were to look you up on the internet OR LinkedIn from a professional work context, what all they'd find about you? - would they feel good or weird about what they'd find? - are you unconsciously leaving an unpleasant online trail? - will you come off as someone who's keen in establishing a growth mindset and working with like minded people?
