So many #Community and #DevRel folk are *amazing* at what they do in large part because of their innate desire to help others. But left unchecked, this instinct is a sure-fire recipe for burnout, not only for your team, but also for yourself personally. :( (Ask me how I know. ;P) So in this instalment, we take a trip over to #ProductManagement Land™, and stea^H^H^H^Hborrow ;) some tricks for #prioritization and setting #boundaries, so you can make sure when you say "Yes, AND!" a) it's to the highest-impact things, and b) you still leave yourself enough slack to handle the "hair fire" moments that inevitably arise. How do you folks handle prioritization/boundary-setting in your teams and/or life?

At Parallel we have a #PRAISE Slack Channel. Each day, this channel lights up with positivity of praise, recognition, and celebrations. It’s where we pause to recognize the hard work, creativity, and dedication that make our team so exceptional. In a world that often moves too fast, our #PRAISE channel is a reminder to slow down and say, “I see you, and I value what you’ve done.” It’s a place where we lift each other up, building a culture of gratitude. At Parallel, we know that recognition isn’t just a feel-good moment; it’s the foundation of a thriving community. Because when we celebrate each other, we grow together. So here’s to every shoutout, every thank you, and every moment of shared success—because they all remind us why we do what we do, and who we’re doing it with.

I tried a Dan Hully firebreak 'week' 🔥 👨🚒 The idea is you have a week away from the usual cadence of meetings to recharge, and refocus on the bigger picture. Here's what I learned: - It's hard to step away... you feel like you're letting the team down - It's even harder if you keep on slack (maybe one to turn off next time) - It's great to get some headspace to focus - I get a lot of energy from people so just sitting on my own doesn't work Here's what I did: - a new (much better) onboarding flow for our fractional partners (clients) For next time: - I'll just focus on two days being really 'off' - half-on/ half-off defeats the point. Any tips for breaking up the weekly grind? Let me know 👍

All right, continuing the "No one gives a &*^@# about your DevRel/Community Programs (and what to do about it)" series, here's one about Alignment: https://lnkd.in/gRjDQJDN I realize this may be yawn-worthy review for some folks out there; I've just seen quite a few people in DevRel think they can simply skip over these steps and go do their thing, and while this might even work (for some value of "work") for awhile, it inevitably leads to a *very bad place* later on. :\ Anyway, please take a look! And if you have your own favourite strategies around building Alignment, would love to hear your thoughts!
