Data-Acquisition vs Insights-Acquisition Last week, I highlighted the challenge facing transformative AI-driven solutions in healthcare: despite significant strides in capturing vast amounts of health data, fragmented storage of such data (across EHR vendors, health-device manufacturers, labs, pharmacies, hospitals, etc.) hinders effective conversion of available data into timely actionable insights. As discussed in a recent thread by Karen Desalvo (Chief Health Officer, Google), bridging this gap between data availability and informed healthcare actions is critical. Access to raw data should not be confused with access to insights. Deep investments continue in health data acquisitions and in advanced tools that will help gather, organize, and analyze data from disparate sources (e.g., GCP, Azure, or AWS health-platform features). However, the inherent characteristic of the extremely fragmented market of data sources makes comprehensive data-acquisition impractical, expensive, and time-consuming, leading organizations to settle for the trade-off path of ‘compromised insights’ based on ‘partial data’. Are compromised insights inevitable in this ecosystem? I believe not. I believe we must strategically shift mindset towards ‘insights-acquisition’ rather than ‘data-acquisition’. The approach of distributed analytics at the respective sources of data, followed by aggregation of acquired insights, holds promise to address this issue, and usher in a revolutionary new wave of advanced healthcare delivery. This approach has proven effective in other industry sectors like IoT, telecom, and industrials. I invite your thoughts on this approach and any success/failure case studies from those among you who have tried this approach in the healthcare domain. #DigitalHealth #HealthcareInnovation #AIinHealthcare #HealthcareAI #HealthcareAnalytics #HealthTech #Innovation #OperationalEfficiency #GenerativeAI

Edge Computing in Healthcare: Enhancing Patient Care with Real-Time Analytics! For those of you who are in Healthcare, let’s talk about how Edge Computing can reshape healthcare. Spoiler: it’s like having a mini doctor in every device. What's the Deal? Imagine patient data that doesn't have to travel across the universe (yes, to the cloud) to be analyzed. Edge Computing processes it right where it’s created, yes, right at the "edge" of the network. Think of it like this: Traditional Healthcare Data Flow: Data → The Cloud → (Processing) → Back to Device = Slow! With Edge Computing: Data → Device = Faster! Why Real-Time Matters? We’re talking instant insights. When seconds count, analyzing data on-site can mean spotting issues before they turn into emergencies. Yes, we’re all about preventing those dramatic scenes. Imagine This: - Wearable detects irregular heartbeat - Processes data immediately at the edge - Sends an alert to medical team: 'Check on that patient, NOW!' - Potential emergency averted The Practical Perks for Healthcare People: 1. Less Data Bottlenecks: Say goodbye to those endless loading screens. 2. Privacy on Lock: Sensitive patient data doesn’t have to make a round trip to the cloud. 3. Cost-Effective: Cuts down on the hefty cloud processing bills. More budget for actual medical equipment, maybe? 😊 The Best Part is ... Edge Computing isn’t just some tech jargon, it can save lives, making healthcare smarter, and bringing proactive vibes to every hospital and clinic out there. So, healthcare people, leaders and innovators, it’s time to push for smarter, faster care! Are you on the edge yet? 😁

Traditional clinical trials, while valuable, have limitations. For decades, clinical research has relied heavily on controlled trials, generating valuable insights but often facing limitations. Thankfully, the landscape is evolving. Real-world data (RWD) and cloud technology are emerging as a powerful duo, transforming the way we conduct research and ultimately improve health outcomes. RWD offers broader patient insights, faster discoveries, and the ability to detect rare events. Cloud technology empowers this by securely storing massive datasets, enabling advanced analytics, and fostering collaboration. This vast and diverse data offers several advantages like enhanced generalizability, identification of rare events and faster insights. RWD's potential is further amplified by cloud technology. Cloud platforms provide the infrastructure and tools to securely store and manage massive datasets and facilitate collaboration among researchers across institutions. This translates to more efficient trials, personalized medicine, and ultimately, improved patient care. Challenges remain, but responsible implementation of RWD and cloud technology paves the way for a more efficient and patient-centric healthcare landscape. #Planimeter #Research #Data #Revolution #Technology #RealWorldData

Some 85 percent of healthcare leaders expect to boost spending on technological solutions into 2024, according to IDC research. Top investment areas include telemedicine and remote patient monitoring, cloud computing, artificial intelligence for clinical applications, and IT operations. However, since the end of the pandemic, it's no secret that the healthcare industry has been fighting against tight budget constraints thanks to supply chain gaps and ongoing staffing shortages. If we truly want to incorporate new technologies, we must approach them with a strategy that puts your business needs at the forefront. This means analyzing where your practice falls short and understanding how a digital transformation can benefit yourself and the patients you aim to heal. #Healthcare #Innovation #Budgeting #FutureOfHealthcare https://lnkd.in/ei85ezJF
