📣 Watch This Eye-Opening Video on Rare and GI Cancers 📣 Have you noticed the alarming rise in cancer diagnoses, especially rare and GI cancers? It's a growing issue that's often overlooked, but it needs our attention now more than ever. 🧠 My Observations: Rising Mortality Rates: Rare and GI cancers are on an alarming rising trend and they are deadly, with higher mortality rates while more commonly diagnosed, Breast and Prostate cancers which have higher diagnoses but also very high success rates. Survival Rate Goals: Cancer Australia's 2030 goal of an 80% five-year survival rate is currently languishing at 70% (for over a decade) and at risk of falling due to there disproportionate lethality and rise in diagnoses. The Future of Cancer: Empower the Patient – Increase Survival: Empower their entire support community – Exponentially Increase Survival. This approach isn't just common sense; it's a solution hidden in plain sight. The Empowered Patient stands uniquely positioned and equipped to understand, engage, and ultimately succeed. They hold the power to influence and reshape both science and healthcare, leading to increased survivorship and reducing financial burdens both privately and publicly. This strategy bridges the critical gap between the success of early detection and the dire statistics associated with late-stage diagnoses. 👉 Watch the video now: https://lnkd.in/gB8ZMshS RealityCheck HEALTHY PEOPLE GET CANCER TOO; We are all healthy until we are not. None of us can predict when we might face a cancer diagnosis. Even healthy individuals, including doctors, nurses, and scientists, are not immune. That’s why being well-equipped with knowledge and resources becomes a crucial factor and advantage if we are ever unexpectedly diagnosed with a serious cancer. Let's wake more people up and make a difference! ✨ Kind Regards Steve Holmes Omico #CancerAwareness #EmpoweredPatients #RareCancer #GICancer #CancerSurvival #cholangiocarcinoma #Cholnagio #CholangioChallengers #rarecancers

I am deeply grateful to American Society for Gastrointestinal Endoscopy (ASGE) for the author interview highlighting my GIE: Gastrointestinal Endoscopy, VideoGIE, and iGIE article as a top ten topic for #cancer #ablation. In this author interview, I delve into why #cancerablation is a pivotal topic today: 1. Technological #Innovation: Advances in ablative modalities have driven significant clinical progress, offering us numerous options for effective treatment. 2. Quality of Life Considerations: Surgical alterations to the GI tract can often come at a steep cost to a patient’s quality of life. Ablation offers a less invasive alternative. 3. #Genomic Diversity: The local tumor’s genomic diversity often exceeds that of metastasis, highlighting the need to enhance systemic therapy with localized treatments. 4. Safety and Precision: #Endoscopic ablation for GI cancers stands out for its unparalleled #precision and safety, utilizing natural orifices to minimize impact on normal tissue. I invite you to watch the interview and explore the nuances of this critical topic. #MedicalInnovation #QualityOfLife #PrecisionMedicine #healthcareonlinkedin #oncology #endoscopiconcology Feel free to adjust any part of this as needed!

📢 A little update from me: I am working on #LungHealth early detection of lung cancer, especially early detection in hard-to-reach populations, women too. Lung cancer screening can improve survival rates. It is the European Week Against Cancer and we focus on early detection. #EUCancerPlan Lung cancer is the biggest cancer killer in Europe; it causes more deaths than colon, breast and prostate cancers combined. When lung cancer is detected based on symptoms, the disease is mostly at a late stage, making treatment much less effective. Screening can detect cancer at a much earlier stage. Finding cancer earlier means that treatments can work better and even cure lung cancer, improving the outcomes for people living with the disease and reducing medical costs. The EU-funded SOLACE project is supporting the roll out of lung cancer screening in the EU. SOLACE will provide a comprehensive guideline for EU countries to be able to initiate lung cancer screening programmes and reach the participants most likely to benefit from screening. #SOLACELUNG #HealthUnion #EU4Health #EWAC2024 Find out more and sign up to the stakeholder forum to receive updates: https://ow.ly/GO3R50RIWOc Lungs Europe
“Lung cancer is now the leading cause of cancer deaths and we can stop this by encouraging women at risk to be screened. Women are unrepresented in most lung cancer screening studies.” Marie Pierre Revel, Public Assistance Hospitals of Paris (AP-HP), Head of the Radiology department at Cochin hospital, APHP and SOLACE WP4 leader. This European Week Against Cancer, we are very excited to share with you our team’s videos explaining the importance and the goals of SOLACE project. SOLACE aims at developing, testing and disseminating tools to help overcome identified bottlenecks and specifically address the health inequalities in different European countries. It will provide a toolbox for individualised approaches for lung cancer screening on a national or regional level. Congratulations to my colleague Eugene Przespolewski PharmD BCOP DPLA and Clinical Services Director Grazyna Riebandt, PharmD, BCOP for this recent publication shedding light on the challenges faced by Oncology Residency Program Directors (ORPDs) regarding protected administrative time and burnout. I have read a couple of studies about burnout among pharmacists lately. This study suggested that ASHP Residency Standards may not be meeting the needs of ORPDs, with 50.8% feeling that the current standard falls short. Only 5.2% of ORPDs had budgeted protected time as well as financial incentives. Fifty percent of respondents saying protected time was the most important change in improving well-being. The findings underscore the need for greater support and incentives for ORPDs. #Healthcare #ResidencyTraining #WellBeing #Burnout
