We made a blunder with our broilers. We fed them too much and they got too big to sell. Doesn't seem like much of a problem right?
But when pasture raised, non-gmo fed chickens sell for $5.00 per pound and up...and your chickens are 6-7 pounds...that prices you out of the competition. It's hard to find someone willing to pay $35 for a chicken. At least it is in my market.
So what are we going to do?
Nothing.
We sold a few, but...
We learned our lesson. 4-5 pounds max next time. Saves in feed also.
Most of the birds will go to feed people who come to attend classes at the new Second Responder Inc. Homestead.
What's the lesson here? Just start. Figure it out. Make mistakes. Keep advancing.

#sundaystories - Would you eat a single 🍬M&M for $100?
Some of us need a few sessions to help us get out of our heads, while others (like me) needed about 20 years or so. The point being - everyone is going to need a different level of support and care to bring out the best of them.

Did you know more that more than a quarter of active-duty military families have experienced food insecurity? Military families are often most vulnerable to food insecurity when they must discard costly pantry essentials during a move from base to base.
To help, US Foods has partnered with the Military Family Advisory Network (MFAN) to provide more than 1,800 military families who are moving to Ft. Cavazos, Texas with Pantry Restock Boxes valued at $150. In support of this support, a recent opinion piece appeared in the Military Times by MFAN CEO, Shannon Razsadin, and our CEO, David Flitman: https://utm.io/uhype
In the piece, Shannon and Dave share important insights on why some military families are experiencing food insecurity — and ways to address the issue. Learn more about our partnership: usfoods.com/community.
