2024 may not be a typical election year, but many saw this coming. Political polarization has intensified within our two-party paradigm, and American voters are increasingly concerned that this system might eventually break, threatening our democracy. And they might be right. Election reform groups are working diligently to change the mechanisms governing our voting system, aiming to alleviate the toxicity that having only two options has created. Ranked Choice Voting (RCV) offers a solution, allowing more people to vote for more candidates without the fear of the "spoiler" effect narrative often propagated by corporate media. But, will Americans be ready for the outcomes of Ranked Choice Voting and open primaries? Will a strong coalition of independent political parties emerge to disrupt the duopoly, or will the two-party system cling to power as long as it can? For those tired of the status quo, it's time to talk, plan, and act. We must support voting reform efforts and create a home for political independents, combining our political will to ignite positive change for the working class and challenge the corporate class’s ability to purchase the political class! #ElectionReform #RankedChoiceVoting #OpenPrimaries #PoliticalChange #Democracy #IndependentVoters #ThirdParty #Vote2024 #PoliticalReform #EndTwoPartySystem #VoterEmpowerment #FutureOfElections #RCV

"It's not the voting that's democracy; it's the counting." - Tom Stoppard In a country known for diversity and innovation, why do voters often find themselves stuck with just two choices 🤔? The answer lies in a political landscape long dominated by the Democratic and Republican parties. Since the mid-1800s, these two giants have shaped the trajectory of American politics, creating a system where alternative voices struggle tirelessly to break through. Even in the Presidential elections of 2024, it is evident that figures such as Kamala Harris and Donald Trump personify the opposing ends of a highly polarized spectrum, highlighting the urgency for change in the dominance of the two-party system. Generally speaking, I'd never view primaries as an "important" race, especially within Illinois and Chicago. However, this race was different. Cook County State's Attorney (the county in which Chicago and its surrounding suburbs are) Kim Foxx decided not to run for re-election. This led to 2 potential SAs taking her spot: Public Policy Professor Clayton Haris III and Retired Justice Eileen O'Neill Burke. In the most general, objective analysis possible, Harris is favored towards more left-leaning and more progressive constituents while Burke is more favored to win the skeptical progressives, moderates, and republicans. The race started on March 19th and it is still going on now. As of 3/25/2024 at approximately 5:00 PM, Burke has an extremely narrow lead of 50.16% at Harris' 49.84%, which is roughly 1640 votes apart. The cliche mantra of "every vote counts" is, although repetitive, extremely important for elections like these. My prediction is already set in stone for Eileen O'Neill Burke to win the election, but how close she got sets the question of how a previous politician influences elections. #IllinoisElections #ChicagoPolitics #CookCountySA #KimFoxx #ClaytonHarisIII #EileenONeillBurke #PrimaryElection #ProgressivePolitics #ModerateVote #RepublicanVote #EveryVoteCounts #PoliticalAnalysis #ElectionUpdate #March2024Election #SkepticalProgressives

It's the 60th U.S. Presidential Election, where Americans are set to decide their 47th president and 50th vice president in a tight race between Kamala Harris, Donald Trump, Tim Walz, and JD Vance. The results are rolling in, and early trends show this is shaping up to be another nail-biter, with former President Donald Trump leading in 210 states while Kamala Harris in 113 states. So far, Harris and Trump have secured states they're expected to win. Florida narrowly reject a measure to overturn its six-week abortion ban. While Trump won Florida, Harris has managed to win New York. I joined News9Live panel to discuss #Trump's reelection. Some of the points I raised: * The reason #Trump won popular vote and not just electoral vote is because there was a very strong popular backlash against the #Biden administration and #KamalaHarris, who failed to distance herself from any shortcomings with the policies in any way and in fact doubled down, which the people in the swing states perceived as condescending and arrogant. * I discussed that the trends of rebellion among various segments of Democrat demographics have been germinating for many years; these voters were alienated and ignored. Their concerns were ignored in favor of policies that were irrelevant or outright in conflict with their socially conservative leanings. #Harris focus on #abortions was successful in attracting some women, including non-Democrats but backfired in terms of sending African American and Hispanic American men and Muslim Americans running in the other direction. The #Republican party is being seen as more appealing to the interests of small businesses, average Americans, and people who are concerned about #education, #economy, jobs, and family values rather than #luxurybeliefs. * #Trump's taking of all the swing states was one of the possible scenarios that basically guaranteed him a victory, but the reason it was not strongly considered despite being on the table is because of the #media bias in favor of #Harris and assumptions that all these voters who ended up staying home or voting Republican were fully on board with the #Harris messaging.
