Understanding Food Insecurity Food insecurity refers to the lack of consistent access to enough food for an active, healthy life. In Manatee County, various factors contribute to food insecurity, including: · Economic Challenges: Unemployment, underemployment, and low wages can make it difficult for families to afford enough food. · Housing Costs: High housing costs can leave little room in budgets for food. · Limited Access: In some areas, there might be a lack of nearby grocery stores or transportation options, limiting access to fresh, affordable food. Resources and Support The Mayors’ Feed the Hungry Program operates year round supporting our local food pantries and reaching out into the community to provide meals. How You Can Help: https://lnkd.in/eVu4xfXe · Donate Food · Volunteer · Monetary Donations · Raise Awareness: Share information about food insecurity and the Mayors’ Feed the Hungry program to help those in need connect with support.

I care about what you care about, and I'm putting my money where your heart is! I'm donating 5% of every commission to each client's favorite charity. Showcasing Lindsay and Anna's Choice - Food Lifeline I helped Lindsay and Anna buy their first property in the US. They are from New Zealand, and real estate is done quite a bit differently there. They needed guidance and education to understand how properties are bought and sold here. I helped them find a place in the area they wanted within their budget. It was a rollercoaster ride to the finish, with a few bumps along the way there and after, but I helped them through it all. When I asked them which charity they would like me supp0rt, they chose Food Lifeline because it benefits the essential needs of the community they live in. Anna and Lindsay said, "The main charity we support is Food Lifeline. I think it was back in the early days of Covid we were looking at what we could do, and someone told us that they did good work. It's a direct way of helping people, especially when sometimes people just need help to get through a short term crunch. That means they can keep homes, cars and jobs, and they've got a good chance of getting past the rough patch. We've remained monthly contributors since." Food Lifeline believes that food is an integral part of life. No one deserves to be hungry. By partnering with food industry sources, they are able to distribute fresh food to a network of 350 food banks, shelters and meal programs locally here in Washington. At the same time they are working to end hunger by addressing its root causes including poverty, racial inequity and social justice by supporting advocacy at the government level. They actively support policies and investments to help reduce food waste in Washington by 50% by 2030. In addition, thousands of v0lunteers help to ensure food gets to the people in need in various forms, whether it be a food bundle or a cooked meal. When you buy or sell with me, you can support your favorite school, social justice organization, food bank, un-housed neighbor program, veteran group, or anything else you care about. How great is that? What will you choose? . #foodlifeline #gschmidtrealestat #seattlehomebuying #seattlerealestate #givingbackSeattle

CALLING all community non-profit and service organizations who want to be a part of the food insecurity solution by bringing a fun, interactive, community-building food drive event to your community. While we’re all still enjoying the dog days of summer, it’s the perfect time to think about ‘Fall Fundraising’. With higher food prices and increasing shortages affecting us all, Sharecrows.org offers a creative, grassroots solution to restock community food banks by turning scarecrows into Sharecrows. What’s a Sharecrow? A Sharecrow is a scarecrow display with a bin for collecting non-perishable food items to help restock local food banks. As communities across North America face varying degrees of food bank shortages, this is the perfect event to replenish food bank supplies. Sharecrows.org has introduced a straightforward Fall Food Drive event designed for non-profit/service organizations to host in their communities. They’ve done all the heavy event planning lifting and made it super easy for your organization to roll out. Sharecrows.org presents a triple-win opportunity for your organization to become a "Hunger Hero" and contribute to alleviating food insecurities. A win for food banks facing critical shortages. A win for the community to engage in a fun and interactive scarecrow food drive tour, fostering creativity, community building, and supporting a good cause. A win for your organization, as the funds raised can benefit local food banks and other community programs. Residents and storefront owners who register for participation commit to crafting a scarecrow, displaying it from October 20 to 31, placing a bin for non-perishable food items, and having their address on a Sharecrows Tour Map for residents to take tours, with a supply of ‘treats’ for the scarecrows along the way. As Halloween and Thanksgiving draw near, it's an ideal time for this interactive and innovative Food Drive event. Visit www.Sharecrows.org to learn more about the event and how to become part of the Sharecrows.org community. Be a Hunger Hero in your community; be a part of the solution.
