CALLING all community non-profit and service organizations who want to be a part of the food insecurity solution by bringing a fun, interactive, community-building food drive event to your community. While we’re all still enjoying the dog days of summer, it’s the perfect time to think about ‘Fall Fundraising’. With higher food prices and increasing shortages affecting us all, Sharecrows.org offers a creative, grassroots solution to restock community food banks by turning scarecrows into Sharecrows. What’s a Sharecrow? A Sharecrow is a scarecrow display with a bin for collecting non-perishable food items to help restock local food banks. As communities across North America face varying degrees of food bank shortages, this is the perfect event to replenish food bank supplies. Sharecrows.org has introduced a straightforward Fall Food Drive event designed for non-profit/service organizations to host in their communities. They’ve done all the heavy event planning lifting and made it super easy for your organization to roll out. Sharecrows.org presents a triple-win opportunity for your organization to become a "Hunger Hero" and contribute to alleviating food insecurities. A win for food banks facing critical shortages. A win for the community to engage in a fun and interactive scarecrow food drive tour, fostering creativity, community building, and supporting a good cause. A win for your organization, as the funds raised can benefit local food banks and other community programs. Residents and storefront owners who register for participation commit to crafting a scarecrow, displaying it from October 20 to 31, placing a bin for non-perishable food items, and having their address on a Sharecrows Tour Map for residents to take tours, with a supply of ‘treats’ for the scarecrows along the way. As Halloween and Thanksgiving draw near, it's an ideal time for this interactive and innovative Food Drive event. Visit www.Sharecrows.org to learn more about the event and how to become part of the Sharecrows.org community. Be a Hunger Hero in your community; be a part of the solution. Secure your spot now. *All early bird members will be grandfathered into special introductory rates. As the owner of an event venue, I’ve witnessed the joy that good food brings to gatherings. However, it’s essential to remember that behind every plate is a story and resources that should never go to waste. Here’s what one can do: 1. Plan menus based on accurate guest counts. 2. Serve smaller portion sizes. 3. Donate excess food to local charities. 4. Use creative food displays. 5. Educate staff on portion control. 6. Offer take-home options for guests. 7. Incorporate seasonal ingredients. 8. Use buffet-style service. 9. Encourage guests to share plates. 10. Track food waste for future improvements. #WorldFoodDay #HappyWorldFoodDay #EventManagement #Founder #FounderInsights

The US is one of the wealthiest countries in the world, yet the wealth inequity gap continues to widen, the middle class seems to be disappearing, the cost of living expense increases is outpacing rise in wages, and, and, and... the list goes on. All of these "ands" are creating multiple levels of insecurity-- food insecurity, housing insecurity, education insecurity, wage insecurity. I know several of my friends Christopher Morris, CUDE, CCUFC and Mark Volz, CUDE, CCM who continue to give of their resources and time at these food pantries in Madison. What if each of us were for 30 days to give up "something" that we enjoy (i.e. Starbucks, eating out weekly) and instead donate either that money or goods in kind to our local food pantries? And then once you have figured out that you can probably do without one or two things of small cost in your life, continue to donate that money! Or even maybe go a day without eating anything and provide the money equivalent of meals for that one day to food banks and pantries...and oh by the way it might give you a small "taste" of what it is like not to have food to eat and how that impacts you not just physically, but mentally and emotionally. Use the link below to see what the food insecurity looks like in your community. https://lnkd.in/e6HVa2GP FYI, In my small rural county in White County Tennessee, 16.3% of the population are food insecure- 4,480 people. #foodinsecurity #creditunions
It's been one week since a coalition of 36 Dane County food pantries released a letter to the community and held a press conference at the Capitol. We came together to sound an alarm about the rising number of people facing food insecurity and the need for both immediate support and longer-term solutions to the challenges of distributing enough food to meet the growing need. You can get involved in building a community where our neighbors don't have to experience hunger. 🌟 Proud to see how initiatives like PORCH Chattanooga are growing and making a difference in our communities! 🌟 PORCH Chattanooga is part of the larger PORCH Communities movement, dedicated to reducing food insecurity through neighbors helping neighbors. Our model is simple: once a month neighbors leave the most needed non-perishable items on their front porches, and our volunteers pick up and deliver them to a local pantry. This incredible program is an example of how we can all play a role in supporting our neighbors and creating a more sustainable future. PORCH Chattanooga’s success shows the power of community involvement. By donating food, volunteering, or simply spreading the word, we can all contribute to making our towns better places to live. If you're inspired by PORCH Chattanooga, consider starting or joining a similar initiative in your own community. (https://lnkd.in/ehtgZTQS) Together, we can create a network of support and ensure that no one goes hungry. With the warmer weather, is your organization prepared to keep cold food cold? Food safety is serious business – make sure your nonprofit is prepared to keep your volunteer’s food safe. Volunteers from Safety for NonProfits Inc. and ABSA International have developed a Food Safety Toolkit for non-profit organizations that have volunteers serving in roles that include the preparation and serving of food as well as distribution of food in the community. The resources within the toolkit can also benefit non-profit organizations without a food-centered mission, including those that host potlucks, shared meals or events with food. Non-profits are encouraged to reach out to S4NP to locate a volunteer who can provide additional support such as an on-site review of the non-profit’s food service program or assistance with utilizing the Toolkit resources. Have I ever told you how much I can get stressed by my job? 😳 Hey, I’ve told you a hundred times how much I love it, and I do. Sometimes the sheer weight of knowing that thousands of vulnerable Victorians rely on you to get things done, can be hard. So… I figure I need your help. And it’s simple: 1. Run a food drive at work! I have the resources to help. 2. Going to the supermarket tonight? Double up on some (or all!) of your items and take them in to work. 3. Got kids at school? Their own friends may be skipping meals. 1 in 4 Aussie families are. Ask your school community to help out. 4. Got a minute? Read & share this post. Sharing is #Anglicaring (yup, I’m trademarking that 😜) #BetterTogether
AV’s FoodBoost is now in full swing, and we would love for you to get involved in running your own food drive! A food drive is a fun way to get your workplace to collect and donate non-perishable food items to help those in need. The food will then be distributed to our Emergency Relief centres to support people experiencing food insecurity and are struggling financially. It's also a fun way to do good and get your workplace doing something different this winter. Follow us over the next few weeks to see how your workplace can take part in AV’s FoodBoost. We’ll be your guides, ensuring you’re fully prepared every step of the way! If you have any questions or need more information, please don’t hesitate to contact our Relationship Manager, Penny Mitchell, at partnerships@anglicarevic.org.au. We would love to see all the wonderful and creative ways you involve your workplace. Be sure you share all your activities with your social media community by tagging Anglicare Victoria. We can’t wait to see your creativity shine! #AVFoodBoost #BetterTogether #AVCorporatePartners #TakeHungerOffTheTable #WeWorkForBetter

How can you and your business help local food support services this coming #GivingTuesday? As the festive season approaches, many of our food support partners are working around the clock to support those in our communities who are struggling to put food on the table. If you are looking to support local people, here are a few ways you can make a meaningful impact: 🥫Organise a food drive: Encourage your colleagues and customers to donate non-perishable food items, setting up collection points at your office, depot, or shop. These can either be dropped off directly to a local food support service or at a supermarket. We would recommend you contact them first to see what items are most in need. 🚶Volunteer time: Dedicate a day or a few hours for your team to volunteer at a local food support service or food bank. Some of our partners need help putting together Christmas parcels, or to drum up and collect donations at a local supermarket. Support is needed all year round. 💷Monetary donations: Consider making a financial contribution, either through a collection, a sponsored activity, or a direct donation. Even a small donation can go a long way in helping them purchase essential items and support more local families. 🤳Raise awareness: Use your social media platforms to raise awareness about the importance of supporting local food support services. Please follow the Access to Food Partnership on Facebook and help share our posts! While the holiday season is a great time to start, it's important to remember that help is needed all year round. Food insecurity doesn't take a break after the holidays, and your support throughout the year can make a difference every day. Food support comes in many different ways and includes food banks, community fridges, community meals and food kitchens. To find your nearest food support service visit our online Map App: https://lnkd.in/eaffNzxv #AccesstoFood #CorporateResponsibility #MakeADifference #YearRoundSupport

never underestimate the power of GivingTuesday. with the annual fundraising event less than a week away, we thought we’d share some creative, feel-good inspiration to get the gears turning. 🤝 while choosing a charity and matching donations is a great way to drive impact, you can also give in a way that’s aligned with your brand’s product and values. 🥑 for example, Misfits Market (at the time Imperfect Foods) invited customers to reuse their Imperfect boxes by filling them up with most-needed pantry items. Imperfect Foods delivery drivers picked them up for two weeks starting on GivingTuesday and donated what was collected to the San Antonio Food Bank, Oregon Food Bank, and Seattle Food Lifeline Food Bank. rediem will be launching a more extensive partnership with Misfits Market soon - so keep your eyes peeled. ⛑️ you can also get your employees involved in a way that goes beyond donations. each year for GivingTuesday, TOMS keeps its stores across the country closed until 1:00 pm in order to let employees spend the morning volunteering (virtually in recent years) at local organizations they care about. is your brand giving back in a unique way? let us know and we’ll highlight you in our next newsletter! #purposedrivenbrands #givingtuesdayideas #sustainabilitymarketing #sustainableCPG #bcorp

🧁🍰🎂 Let them eat cake 🎂🍰🧁 Gloucestershire colleagues. Can you help? We really, really need you to. Yesterday, my incredible team and I, along with volunteers from @BraveHCG, picked, packed, collected, carried, sorted, stacked, and stuffed our way through gift sorting and hamper filling for Caring for Communities and People #HamperScamper. We set a hamper-filling record for this year (so far). 125 hampers packed, sealed, and ready for distribution. It would have been 150 hampers. What stopped us? Not enough cake! The incredible thing about #HamperScamper is the generosity of such a wide group of people and businesses. The downside is we’re never quite sure what we’ll have lots of, and what we’ll have little. Right now, it’s everything, but most of all, cakes. Christmas Cakes, Yule Logs, Christmas Puddings. Whatever you want to donate. The grand total now stands at 500 complete. 2,500 still to source and pack. There are nowhere near enough donations in yet, and every day, every item, counts. Can you donate? Everything you need to know (what, where, how?) is here: https://lnkd.in/eBmwHASc [Video shows the 25 boxes that we’d part-filled, before we ran out of cake] #ESG #VolunteeringDay #WeAreCCP #PurposeLed #AmplifyingImpact
