Here’s a brief overview: 𝐖𝐚𝐯𝐞 𝟏: ROI Focus (Until 2006) In the early days, CVM was primarily about basic Return on Investment (ROI) calculations. Companies relied on spreadsheets to justify pricing and assess financial benefits, focusing mainly on immediate customer needs to close sales. 𝐖𝐚𝐯𝐞 𝟐: Long-term Value Creation (2006-2011) As businesses recognized the importance of nurturing relationships, the focus shifted to creating long-term customer value. Organizations began prioritizing retention and loyalty, moving beyond mere transactions to ensure ongoing satisfaction. 𝐖𝐚𝐯𝐞 𝟑: Technological Integration (2012-2019) With advancements in technology, the third wave brought sophisticated analytics and digital tools into the mix. Companies started leveraging data to gain deeper insights into customer behavior, allowing for personalized interactions and innovative solutions tailored to specific needs. 𝐖𝐚𝐯𝐞 𝟒: Data-Driven Anticipation (2020-Present) Today, we find ourselves in the fourth wave, where data analytics enables organizations to anticipate customer needs even before they are expressed. This proactive approach fosters deeper relationships and creates personalized experiences that align closely with customer expectations.
