A gentle reminder: The call for participation in VIS – Nordic Journal for Artistic Research Issue 13 is closing 27 May! The theme is Brieftopia. The 13 issue of VIS seeks expositions for artistic exploration, emphasising exploration of imagined realms — a fleeting yet delightful sight into an imaginative future, a momentary glimpse into a potential future that is both accessible and tangible, a brief utopia, a brieftopia. A brieftopia represents a momentary burst of imaginative thinking that happens in the present. Here, artistic researchers blend their artistic ideas with thoughts about how the world might change in the future. It’s a brief moment of escape from reality to imagine a tangible future that provides the potential to navigate ourselves. The deadline for submitting exposition proposals is 27 May 2024. Editor for VIS #13: Behzad Khosravi Noori, Ph.D., is an artist, writer, educator, play grounder, and necromancer. His research-based practice includes films, installations, as well as archival studies. VIS uses the Research Catalogue (RC) database for both the application process and publication. As an artist, you create an exposition using the tools provided by RC and then submit it to VIS for review. Both the VIS website and Research Catalogue provide clear instructions on how to create and submit an exposition proposal. https://lnkd.in/gdwwk8ZX

A reminder to take care of your CSP (Content Security Policy): in Munich's Modern Art Gallery, a museum technician is fired after hanging his painting near the selection of 20th-century art to promote himself. After several hours, the museum noticed the addition and decided to keep it for the day so as not to disrupt the exhibition. The man will also probably face a penalty of around 100 Euros for a damaged property (aka screws in the wall), which, one may argue, is a small price for a day in a renounced gallery. Another reminder - not to add more noise during a pentest: a similar accident happened some time ago in Bonn, where the sneaky artwork, hung on a double-sided tape, was only noticed during the dismantling process. The museum's staff was impressed and sought to connect with the artist. By the way, in many cases, that's "exactly" what happens after a random website's compromise: the attacker funnels ads through the hole and pockets the profit—although it's a bit too straightforward, it requires little post-compromise effort and has a clear monetization model.

💪🏻Great work!! Although some refining and updating will come in time, this is already a great starting point for artists, designers and all creative minds to follow choesive guidelines and tools with the aim of implementing sustainable practices in daily activities as well as making more responsible decisions about any kind of project. 🌈I personally believe that “following” doesn’t necessarily has to be received as in “abiding”, especially when there’s a considerable impact-making at stake. Creative minds will interprete guidelines in a unique way which will hopefully result in a greatly diverse and widespread change-making force infusing plenty of positive inputs worldwide to help accelerating the transition to a more sustainable and fair growth. 👏🏻Congrats and huge esteem to all people involved in the realease of this toolkit! Please do make sure that open feedbacks and participated rounds of revisions may be systematised constructively to develop it even further.
We are excited to announce that the GCC Artist Toolkit is now live! ✨ After 2 years of dedicated research, we have created a comprehensive resource to empower artists in leading the charge towards an environmentally responsible art world. The GCC Artist Toolkit includes best practice guidelines, email templates, case studies, a guide to writing your own environmental responsibility rider, and an index of resources for further support. Explore it here: https://lnkd.in/eqyFu6TQ We acknowledge that this is just the beginning of this work, and we look forward to expanding on this foundation in the future. Stay tuned for more updates! The GCC Artist Toolkit is made possible by Teiger Foundation.

An Invitation to My World (virtual exhibition in UE5) My first attempt to demolish the physical barrier in-between art and viewers through the use of virtual spaces, video editing, and QR codes. This project was my response of my frustration over the lock down during the pandemic when galleries were closed and opportunities were limited to both artists as well as viewers. - Created, rendered, and shot in UE5 - Edited in Premier Pro - Cooked in Media Encoder

What can comms professionals learn from visiting a museum? Have you ever wandered through a museum and thought about how it captures attention, tells a story, and keeps you engaged? 🤔 Museums are packed with lessons for communicators, and here are a few to spark some ideas: 🖼️ Tell a story that sticks From ancient artefacts to modern art, museums are masters of storytelling. They don’t just show what something is. They tell you why it matters. In comms, context and relevance make all the difference. 🔎 Cater to curiosity Great exhibits spark questions and encourage exploration. In our work, it’s about providing just enough information to intrigue while inviting deeper engagement. 🎧 Use multiple channels Museums use visuals, audio guides, interactive displays, and even scents. Similarly, effective comms often require a mix of formats to reach diverse audiences. 👣 Design for the journey The flow of a museum isn’t random. It is carefully planned to lead you through an experience. Are your communications guiding your audience or leaving them lost? 🌟 Create a moment of wonder Whether it’s a towering T-Rex skeleton or a stunning painting, museums aim to leave a lasting impression. What’s the "wow factor" in your comms? Next time you visit a museum, look beyond the exhibits. Inspiration is everywhere! What’s the most memorable thing you’ve learned from a museum?
