NIPPON EXPRESS GROUP Holdings has taken a groundbreaking step toward environmental sustainability with the launch of the NX-Green SAF program in Japan. This initiative allows customers to procure environmental attributes from sustainable aviation fuel (SAF), effectively reducing CO2 emissions across their supply chains. Introduced in Europe in July 2023, the NX-Green SAF Program is a carbon-insetting initiative aimed at helping customers mitigate CO2 emissions from all air transport services provided by the NX Group. Notably, this program is the first of its kind offered by a Japanese-affiliated forwarder without limitations on airline choices. Participants in the program will receive a verified CO2 reduction statement from SGS, usable for mandatory climate-related financial disclosures and CDP reporting. This move underscores NX Group's commitment to environmental transparency and accountability. As part of its broader sustainability objectives, NX Group has set ambitious goals to slash its Scope 1 and 2 CO2 emissions by 50% from 2013 levels by 2030, aligning its operations with global climate action targets. The agreement to pursue zero emissions for Europe’s new cars and vans by 2035 backed up by strong charging infrastructure and development of alternatives such as rail network, and the sustainable batteries regulation, has set a clear direction and an unequivocal target for sustainable transport measures. However, in order to make the Green transition a reality, and bring its benefits to people, the planet and business, it is vital that we act now. Making the transition to e-mobility must be a priority, not simply to deliver environmental sustainability but also to reinforce the EU’s industrial strength, security and competitiveness. United by their shared vision to transform passenger transport through technology, both vessels are enhancing efficiency using different innovative technologies. Together, they are both rewriting the rules of what’s possible in maritime transport and reimagining passenger transportation.
