How can we make sure advocacy is recognized as a true asset in #pharma and #biotech❓ Advocacy brings the patient to the table, shaping strategies that genuinely connect industry with what the #patient needs. But too often it’s seen as a cost rather than a core piece of an organization’s success. If we want to change that, we need to show the impact of #advocacy in a way that’s clear and measurable over time. 📊 Using data and research to measure engagement and initiatives over time helps demonstrate just how much advocacy drives meaningful change. When we can quantify the positive effects on patient engagement and community outcomes, advocacy isn’t just seen as valuable— 𝐢𝐭 𝐛𝐞𝐜𝐨𝐦𝐞𝐬 𝐚 𝐬𝐭𝐫𝐚𝐭𝐞𝐠𝐢𝐜 𝐝𝐫𝐢𝐯𝐞𝐫. Grounding advocacy’s role in measurable results builds a healthcare ecosystem that’s truly responsive and centered on patient needs. #PatientAdvocacy #PatientEngagement #HealthcareInnovation #HealthEquity #PatientOutcomes #Data #BridgeTheGap

🍎 💭 𝐅𝐨𝐨𝐝 𝐟𝐨𝐫 𝐓𝐡𝐨𝐮𝐠𝐡𝐭: The gap between knowledge & execution in patient advocacy can be significant. Many #advocacy teams struggle to align their efforts with the most effective strategies due to a lack of actionable data. Often, teams rely on internal metrics that may reflect positively on their efforts but fail to provide a true measure of impact. Conversely, some measure patient & community initiatives without a clear understanding of their internal resources, budget, or how these align with industry standards. Effective advocacy requires both proactive & reactive approaches to accurately gauge effectiveness. The need for comprehensive tools in #healthcare advocacy is critical. Imagine your team empowered with actionable insights that meet real patient needs, leading with confidence and backed by data that validates and advances your role. Isn't it time we bridged these gaps?

💬 Last week, our community highlighted the essential role of patient advocacy in comms, with many of us integrating it as a core element of our overarching strategy. Discussions showed the need for regular engagement with patient advocacy organizations and ensuring patient voices are included in the comms development process. Key takeaway: Effective patient advocacy communication hinges on routine involvement and cross-department collaboration to ensure messages are consistently supportive and patient-focused.
There are many layers when considering comms’ work related to patient advocacy. This week, we zero in on best practices for communications when engaging patient groups. Our top five must-dos are principles that are not applied only once. Rather, we keep coming back to these every time an org has an update that could impact, even indirectly, the patient groups it serves. These apply whether you’re responsible for patient advocacy or supporting these efforts in partnership with an established patient advocacy function at your org or client. What’s your take on our list? What else would you add?
