TIP OF THE WEEK: Holidays can be the busiest time of the year for some businesses. How do you handle holiday time off requests though when you may need your staff on deck more than other times of the year? Here are 3 tips to help get your projects finished and keep your staff happy: 1 – Allow staff to make trade-offs. It may be possible that someone can cover for that staff member for the time needed without neglecting their own projects. 2 – Don’t assume that everyone wants to celebrate the holidays. Ask your staff’s preference. There may be some staff members that would prefer to work on holidays and have off some other day off. 3 – Show you care. You may not be able to accommodate everyone’s request but don’t act like it is no big deal. Apologize to that staff member for denying their request and possibly offer a tradeoff of some kind. #holidaytimeoff #holidays #pivotgrowthpartners #pivotgrowth

Public holidays now live in Operating. You don't have to ask people to mark them manually anymore! This means time saved and more accurate forecasts. How it works: - Create public holiday calendars based on a country's or state's specific holiday calendar - Assign public holiday calendars for groups of people at once, e.g. a country office - Add or remove specific holidays to create custom holiday calendars

I'm back from a beach HOLIDAY in France - taking a break and recharging has restored my batteries! Did you know Bill Gates takes 2 x 5 day reading week holidays EACH YEAR - minimal tech and social interaction just books and thinking time. When negotiating an offer where holiday entitlement is part of your total package, consider these aspects: 𝟏. 𝐂𝐨𝐦𝐩𝐚𝐧𝐲 𝐜𝐮𝐥𝐭𝐮𝐫𝐞 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐚𝐭𝐭𝐢𝐭𝐮𝐝𝐞 𝐭𝐨𝐰𝐚𝐫𝐝𝐬 𝐭𝐚𝐤𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐡𝐨𝐥𝐢𝐝𝐚𝐲 𝐚𝐥𝐥𝐨𝐰𝐚𝐧𝐜𝐞 Some industries require staff to take 2 weeks of holiday in a row, normalising absence as part of the company culture. Conversely, in some companies there is no limit to the number of holidays you can take, but no one takes more than a week off at a time. Understanding these norms can help you better align your expectations and ensure that the holiday benefit meets your personal needs and preferences. 𝟐. 𝐓𝐨𝐭𝐚𝐥 𝐧𝐮𝐦𝐛𝐞𝐫 𝐨𝐟 𝐝𝐚𝐲𝐬 𝐨𝐟𝐟𝐞𝐫𝐞𝐝 𝐩𝐞𝐫 𝐲𝐞𝐚𝐫 How does this align with your own personal needs and requirements? 𝟑. 𝐈𝐬 𝐭𝐡𝐞𝐫𝐞 𝐚𝐧 𝐨𝐩𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧 𝐭𝐨 𝐩𝐮𝐫𝐜𝐡𝐚𝐬𝐞 𝐞𝐱𝐭𝐫𝐚 𝐝𝐚𝐲𝐬 𝐨𝐟𝐟? If you need more holidays this can help you bridge the gap. 𝟒. 𝐇𝐨𝐰 𝐢𝐬 𝐮𝐧𝐮𝐬𝐞𝐝 𝐡𝐨𝐥𝐢𝐝𝐚𝐲 𝐢𝐬 𝐭𝐫𝐞𝐚𝐭𝐞𝐝 𝐚𝐭 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐞𝐧𝐝 𝐨𝐟 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐲𝐞𝐚𝐫 Whether it can be carried over, paid out, or if it will be forfeited. If the holiday allowance is more than you need, the option to be paid out for extra days can be a nice bonus. Similarly if you're trying to save up dates for a bigger milestone or longer holiday the option to save can help. #REBOOT #Careers #executivecoaching #Negotiation

HOLIDAYS – the difference between profit and loss. Some projects stop, some processes have no responsible person present, some resources are not coordinated, some activities simply stop up to when the person in charge comes back to decide or to act, and the financial impacts during the months of the holiday period can make the difference between profit or loss for the complete year period. Holiday planning is a process, as many other processes of the company. Unfortunately, in many organizations, this process is not in place or not properly managed. The effects are often undervalued, but they can make the difference between profit and loss for the company. Some employees are not getting the possibility to switch off and they are contacted also during holidays to make decisions, to give information… It is not so simple, there are many aspects to be understood and properly organized by the management to set the holiday planning process correctly: - Employees needs - Substitution matrix - Responsible in charge - Projects planning - Financial reserves - Holiday fund - … The proper preparation for the holiday period is a full year of work for the organization. It is not an improvised planning done in the last week before the holiday period. It is a long work of preparation that consolidates the organization efficiency focused on the concept that EVERYBODY HAVE THE RIGHT TO SWITCH OFF FOR THE HOLIDAY PERIOD AND EVERYTHING IN THE COMPANY MUST GO ON AS USUAL. 🌞 Summer Holidays It’s so important to ensure employees can use their holiday allowance to have a well-earned break. 🏖️ Here are three top tips for managing holiday: 1️⃣ Encourage the team to plan holidays in advance wherever possible 2️⃣ Talk to the team early on about times in the year when they may be unable to take leave, or when there could be a restriction on how many can be off at one time 3️⃣ Consider having a wall planner up in the office so that the team can easily see when others already have leave booked, or times when leave can’t be taken ❗Remember, you can turn down a holiday request where it doesn’t fit with business requirements at that time, but it is a legal requirement under the ‘Working Time Regulations’ for you to allow employees to take their full holiday allowance during the year. ➡️ You can see further information on holiday rights here: https://lnkd.in/eDguXgWU ➡️ For more on creating a happy team visit: https://lnkd.in/eczGUaGk ✅ Not yet a member? It’s the start of March…is anyone else thinking of the Easter holidays already? If you’re an employer, you should be. Easter Holidays bring excitement and chocolate (hopefully 😏) but it also brings public holidays. As a business owner in an industry where you operate on those public holidays, you’ll need employees to work these days. Employers cannot require employees to work on public holidays. Instead, they should extend a request for employees to work, ensuring it is made well in advance. This approach demonstrates the reasonableness of the request and highlights why refusing to work without a valid reason could be considered unreasonable. Consider this a nudge to begin your planning and open the lines of communication with your team! #EmploymentLaw #EmploymentLawyer #CommercialLitigation #EasterHolidays #PublicHolidays #BusinessOwners
