Hartlepool is now connected to the CityFibre network 🛜 We’ve completed our primary build in the town so we’re ready for service to over 33,000 homes, which is around 80% of the town’s homes and most businesses. Residents in Hartlepool can enjoy affordable, gigabit-capable and reliable full fibre broadband from a range of 22 internet service providers. It's now one of the UK’s best-connected towns. CityFibre’s network offers download and upload speeds of up to 2.5Gbps and is capable of supporting symmetrical speeds of up to 10Gbps in the future. That is over 36 times faster than the UK’s average download speeds of 69.4Mbps and more than 136 times faster than the UK’s average upload speed of 18.4Mbps. Not breaking news, but The Telegraph has an article out today talking about the #pstn switch off, and importantly how it will impact building that have lifts. The deadline has been pushed back to January 2027 to ensure that as much notice as possible has been given, but the article estimates that 180,000 lifts are still connected to the old analogue phone network, which could lead to situations where people are unable to use the connected alarm or phone when their lift gets stuck. At Shared Access we have a wealth of experience of working in this environment - installing lift coverage is not as simple as just installing an antenna at the top of a lift shaft and pointing down, it needs work with the lift manufacturer as well as radio planning to move between sectors of coverage to ensure handovers between floors work seamlessly. As can be seen below, this is not simple to do! Landlord, Tenants and Investors - Do you have a solution in place to stop people being stuck in lifts with no one to call? If not get in touch with Shared Access today! #connectivity #networks #investment #innovation #mnos #2g #3g #4g #5g #business #enterprise #UK #investors #coworking #towers #masts #inbuilding #property #realestate #growth #mobile #mobilenetworks #telecoms #telecommunications #technology #lifts #liftcoverage #risk #safety BT Group https://lnkd.in/e_nHt362

Connecting Communities: Tackling Mobile Coverage Gaps with Innovation Exciting strides are being made in Norfolk, UK to address one of today's critical infrastructure challenges: poor mobile signal coverage in rural areas. Norfolk , UK, County Council, in collaboration with mobile analysts Streetwave, has launched an innovative project using bin lorries equipped with monitoring devices to gather real-time data on mobile signal strength and download speeds. This data-driven approach is a response to significant connectivity challenges, especially highlighted during emergencies like Storm Darragh, which left many rural residents isolated without power or communication. The collected data will power an interactive coverage map, providing transparent insights into network performance across the region. This tool, with its network-specific filtering, promises to: 📍 Help residents and businesses identify the best mobile providers in their area. 📍 Push telecom companies to improve signal coverage where it's most needed. 📍 Strengthen Norfolk’s overall connectivity infrastructure for the future. As Councillor Jane James aptly put it, "Not having a mobile phone signal when you really need it is incredibly frustrating." This project bridges the gap between claims of "extensive coverage" and the reality experienced by users, empowering communities to advocate for better service. Congratulations to the Wesley Clover portfolio company Streetwave for spearheading this impactful initiative! With innovation like this, Norfolk is setting an example for other regions to follow in addressing connectivity "notspots." https://lnkd.in/gWxk5wYJ #Innovation #Connectivity #SmartCities #DataDrivenSolutions #Streetwave
