At B Lab, we create standards, policies, tools, and programs to transform capitalism for the benefit of all people, communities, and the planet. A key part of our mission is shifting the behavior of business. But we don’t stop there: across our network, B Lab runs local and regional programs to equip leaders with practical tools for continuous improvement. A standout initiative is the Impact Improvement Program led by B Lab US & Canada in 2023. This eight-week program, facilitated by DEI mindset coaches from Beyond Inclusion Group, helps B Corps explore racial equity practices and policies. Participants committed 3 ½ hours each week to learn about employee wealth-building, fair-chance hiring, inclusive recruitment and retention, and setting goals for accountability. What do you do when your senior leadership doesn't represent the full diversity of the stakeholders you serve? It can take a long time for the c-suite table to become more diverse. That doesn't mean the organization is doomed to produce one-size-fits-all products and solution, or that it can't generate innovative, equitable services and programming. I was discussing this issue today on a consulting call and was reminded of this interview clip with one of Tidal Equality's enduring champions, Jeff Dodds (now the star CEO of Formula E).
