Last week I had the privilege of representing yet2 at the Innovation Roundtable Summit in Copenhagen, where thought leaders from around the world gathered to dive into the future of open innovation (OI). Here are my key takeaways: 🔑 OI as a Sustainability Catalyst: Companies are leveraging open innovation ecosystems to tackle complex sustainability challenges, pooling expertise across industries to develop scalable, responsible solutions. 🌍 Cross-Industry Partnerships: More than ever, organizations are looking beyond industry boundaries for fresh perspectives. Cross-sector collaboration is proving essential for breakthrough innovation. 📊 Impact Over Show: Companies are moving away from “innovation theater” and emphasizing measurable outcomes. Metrics-driven approaches are now essential to proving ROI in innovation investments. 🚀 Agile Cultures: The focus on agility is transforming OI processes. Companies are fast-tracking innovation cycles, testing rapidly, and iterating in real time to adapt to market needs. 👥 Infrastructure for Integration: To make OI sustainable, firms need dedicated structures and roles that bridge external partnerships with internal development. It’s clear that as OI matures, organizations are increasingly focused on how to implement lasting, impactful innovation. I’m excited to see yet2 helping clients bridge this gap, fostering connections that turn big ideas into practical solutions. #InnovationRoundtable2024 #OpenInnovation #CorporateInnovation #yet2

One of the biggest problems in #Germany is the fact that we have lost all overview and #energy for #innovation. But why? The last few years have clearly shown that setting up and "doing something" in a hot spot (like Berlin, Munich,…) is no longer necessary. It also works in the outback! A standardised and digital platform to promote transparency and community? No sign of it! At least until now :-) Let’s connect innovation globally 💯 DigitalValley® https://lnkd.in/gdnYzmQc

💡 Transforming Corporate Open Innovation: DeepTech Alliance Roundtable Insights 🔍 Recently, we had the privilege of hosting a landmark DeepTech Alliance Open Innovation Roundtable session, featuring an enlightening case by Matthew Byrne, Sr. Manager of Open Innovation at TechnipFMC, a leader in fully integrated projects, products, and services for the energy industry. With participants from nine companies across six countries, the discussion centered around leveraging external ecosystems for breakthrough innovations in the traditional and new energy sectors. 🔍Case Highlight: Matt showcased an open innovation pilot that culminated in a 3D-printed landing ring solution for advanced subsea equipment. This case not only underscored the value of external collaborations but also highlighted the strategic process of identifying, selecting, and executing pilots with a keen eye on business goal alignment and scope management. Key Takeaways: - 🗣️ Internal Storytelling: Horizontal sharing of case studies within the business spurs a healthy competitive spirit, making business units more receptive to external projects. - 🤝 Phased Collaboration: A step-by-step approach in pilot projects significantly mitigates risks. - 🎯 Vertical Buy-In & Budget Autonomy: Gaining executive support and having an initial budget dedicated to open innovation fosters agility and encourages investment from business units. The session exemplified how open innovation can catalyze development, reduce R&D efforts, and challenge conventional methodologies. 🌟 Why Join the DeepTech Alliance Corporate Network? Being part of our network offers unparalleled access to: - 🌍 10 leading European startup hubs in one sweep. - 🔁 Curated deal flow from all over Europe. - 💡 Best practice sharing with corporate peers. Huge thanks to everyone who joined us this morning at Exchange: Cost of (not) Innovating. We had a brilliant and engaging conversation covering culture, mindset money and more. Here are some of our key takeaways from the conversation: - There are often competing forces at play - the need to grow businesses and. rapidly differentiate vs the need to deliver profits - We spoke about the balancing of incremental vs transformative innovation. Simon Garrard talked about a portfolio approach (the golden ratio - 70% should be geared towards incremental, 20% on adjacent and 10% on breakthrough/transformative innovation) - Company culture dictates the ability to challenge the boundaries, lean into the unknowns and have an innovative mindset. We hear about how important it is to create a safe and creative space by encouraging an openness to ‘failure’ … and looking at failure as a success if you’re learning from it - therefore the narrative around failure (as role-modelled by leadership) is so important. - Finally, we talked about how much is rooted in the language we use, and how this can sometimes be a barrier. We even touched on how even calling it ‘innovation’ can be off-putting and could create a barrier. What were your reflections? Today I'm participating in Sweden Innovation Days, where I look forward to gaining new insights and case studies from one of the world's strongest #ecosystems for innovation. This year, the focus is on innovating for #resilience. #Sweden has long been recognised for its vibrant #innovation ecosystem, and one aspect that particularly interests me is the building of ecosystems across corporate companies, deep tech startups, universities, and funding agencies.
