On December 12, 2024, the Honorable Minister of Agriculture and Livestock Development, Mr. Ramanath Adhikari, visited the Korea-Nepal Model Dairy Village under the Milky Way Project in Kamalamai Municipality, Sindhuli. He was warmly welcomed by the Kamalamai Social Entrepreneur Women’s Dairy Cooperative (SEWDC) and representatives of the municipality. Mrs. Guna Kumari Ghimire, Chairperson of SEWDC, shared inspiring updates on the significant progress achieved in the model dairy village. The Honorable Minister toured key facilities, including the Cooperative, Collection Center, and Dairy Training Center, where he expressed deep admiration for the significant milestones reached within a relatively short timeframe, highlighting the impactful efforts of the local community and partners. In his remarks, the Honorable Minister pledged the Ministry's continued support to sustain these transformative achievements. He also extended heartfelt gratitude to Heifer International Nepal, Heifer Korea, and Heifer International for their invaluable contributions to Sindhuli’s development. During his visit to the Model Shed, he learned about the welfare of the Korean Holstein cattle, a gift from South Korea under Heifer's “Passing on the Gift” initiative. The model dairy village at Kamalamai is a good program for milk production with cow breed improvements. There is already some milk surplus situation as per the milk demand. So, care should be taken to link milk production with marketing. In case if there is problem of milk marketing due to surplus situation, the whole program may be affected?
