Whenever I invest in a company, I ask myself a simple question: "How often do we meet founders of this calibre and quality?" If the answer is less than every 6 months, then as a seed investor, you should always write the check. When I met Tuomo Riekki and he told me his vision for Zero and why now was the perfect time to reinvent the CRM, it was clear. I meet someone of this calibre once every few years. That is an incredibly easy investment to make. What Tuomo Riekki & Santtu Koivumäki are building is truly incredible. I watched the demo but the main value add I see is automated updating. How is that done? Secondly, how are those automated outbound messages generated? I still find the quality of GenAI messages to be hit or miss. And usually it requires quite a bit of specific details from me to be any good which negates the automation advantage. Lastly, the lead sourcing tied to ICP. My experience has been that this requires a lot of curation from humans and even then you still find errors. Different titles for same roles across companies, LinkedIn that is not updated, all of these can make this a challenge for the tools that exist today.
Spot on. Their vision isn't just about reinventing a product, it's about to re-approach an entire category. Can’t wait to see how this shakes up the industry.
It's the people behind the product, the portfolio, the performance. Thats the sauce.
When evaluating an investment, the caliber of the founder is a critical factor. Meeting founders with exceptional vision and capabilities is rare, which makes those opportunities stand out.
It's rare to encounter founders who truly stand out not just for their ideas but for their execution and clarity of vision. How do you weigh the timing of the market versus the founder's vision when making these rare decisions?
Brilliant the Team is crucial compared to the idea
met them today and 100% agree!
It’s not just about the product or market, but the people behind it.
All these biases though. Founders learn. Grow. Should we rather be looking at teachability ? Or the ability you quickly learn and grow ? If everyone looks for “high calibre” people what happens to the potentially high calibre let alone the “low” calibre
