One of the aspects we loved about our joint event, 'Financing a Liveable Future: Church Investments in Climate Solutions' (co-hosted with Operation Noah), was how the speakers shared very practical advice and experience. Mike Sturgess was one of them, and you can watch his session, as well as four more short videos from event here: https://bit.ly/3QgY71M Check them out!
In November 2023 I attended a conference on "Church Investors in Climate Solutions", representing the Diocese of Truro. All the sessions from the conference are now available on YouTube. Here's the session where I was on the panel with Paul Jaffe, Head of Sustainability within Real Assets for the Church Commissioners, talking about our experience of moving assets into climate solutions: https://lnkd.in/e-eQXdv4.

Jamaica is legendary for being an island paradise that exports a culture of happiness and feel-good "irie." Yet the Caribbean country faces very serious threats from, as the World Bank reports, "hotter temperatures, droughts and floods linked to climate change, and an existential threat due to sea level rise." Jamaica was one of 10 island countries or territories to attend the second cohort of the Blue Planet Alliance Fellowship Program in Hawaii in May, which convened island leaders to help share information that could put them on the path to a 100% renewable-energy future. The America the Beautiful for All Coalition reflects the diversity of America and centers the voices of people of color working to conserve 30% of lands, waters, and oceans by 2030. In 2024, this coalition will continue to motivate urgent action by the Biden Administration, Congress and other decision-makers in support of the coalition’s twin goals: 1) Conserving at least 30% of land, water, and ocean by 2030; and 2) Implementing a Justice40 metric for the America the Beautiful Initiative to ensure at least 40% of investments are made in communities of color and frontline communities that have historically seen little to no investment in conservation and equitable access to nature. https://zurl.co/fUfF

As you know, I am not shy about advocating for the ocean and the life it sustains—including all of us. The aftermath of Hurricane Helene and the struggle of my family and others in Asheville have reinforced the importance of our collective action. I urge fellow environmentalists and climate activists to show up and vote. Your support is crucial for continued infrastructure spending for resilience and funding for agencies such as the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration, the National Weather Service, and the Federal Emergency Management Agency. #EnvironmentalAdvocacy #ClimateAction #GoVote
