❗Looking for new challenges! Dear friends and LinkedIn network 👋 After a recent lay-off at Artificer and taking some time for a well-deserved break, I'm ready to dive back into the job market and find an exciting new team to work with! :) I'm seeking roles in the game industry, particularly as a QA Lead, Producer (including Junior/Associate), or Senior QA Specialist. Given the current state of flux in the market, I'm also open to QA opportunities outside the game industry. I have over 7 years of experience building and mentoring QA teams, developing workflows, and integrating QA into game development from pre-production to post-release. I also have over 2 years of experience running external playtests, production planning, development team coordination, and release management. Apart from helping teams finish their projects smoothly, I also enjoy finding spots for making things better. Since starting as a QA tester in 2011, I've participated in 20+ game QA projects and honed my testing skills across a wide range. I've recently consolidated my skills by learning the ISTQB 4.0 Foundation Level standards. I thrive when helping open-minded, specialized teams voice their diverse perspectives and blend them into new ideas and practical approaches. I especially enjoy work environments that promote this kind of team dynamic. Recent projects I'm proud of include "Showgunners" and "Security Breach" DLC, where I led the QA team and managed the release, and more recently, the newly announced "Sumerian Six", where I supervised production in key departments. Feel free to check out my games portfolio linked to my profile. See more about my skills below. Leadership and management: - Integrating QA teams in production workflow and developing QA processes - Implementing playtest pipelines - Managing production for gameplay/level design, UI/UX, audio design, narrative, localization - Overseeing release activities for Steam, GOG, EGS Testing: - Manual testing: PC, consoles, Steam Deck, Android - Testing types: AI, art, audio, compatibility, compliance, exploratory, feature, integration, localization, performance, regression, smoke, stability, system, usability, user acceptance Tech and software: - Unreal Engine 4/5 - Jenkins, Perforce - Steamworks, GOG DevPortal, Epic Developer Portal - Jira, Confluence, Notion, Miro, Trello, Figma Two fun facts: I've been playing drums as long as I’ve been making games, and in an alternate reality, my counterpart is probably a pro drummer with a gaming hobby. Also, I love tabletop RPGs and have a knack for setting up gaming groups in every company I've been a part of. I'd love to connect, expand my network, and discuss opportunities aligned with my values and expertise. Please pass this along to anyone who might help me land my dream job, or leave a comment/reaction to spread the word. If there is any way I can use my network to help you, please let me know. Thanks for your time and help! 🙏

Is it time to transition from a developer to a manager role over 40 due to age and tech changes? #TechIndustry #CareerAdvice #DeveloperLife 🚀 Have you ever heard the saying "When you are over 40, you should switch to a manager role instead of continuing being a dev"? 🧐 I recently came across this interesting perspective from Thai developers and it got me thinking. Here are a few points to consider: - Younger devs may have more up-to-date knowledge on new tech stacks - Older devs may stru... Source: https://lnkd.in/g8i7wwTv #mymetric360

❗ HELP ❗ It's hard to believe it's been 14 months since I last had a job, and I won’t lie—things are getting tight financially. As much as I’m driven by my passion for Product Management, I’m open to any opportunities right now, whether part-time, full-time, or even outside of my usual field. If any of my connections know of something that might be a fit, or can introduce me to someone who does, I would be eternally grateful. Sometimes, it just takes one connection to change everything. 🙏 Here's a brief rundown of my experience: ✅ QA Experience ▶️ During my three-year tenure at Sony as a First Party QA Tester, I spearheaded extensive multiplayer tests for Guerilla Games' Killzone. I also became the go-to person for bug report assistance and played a crucial role in identifying and reporting critical bugs in various titles while collaborating within a small 4-person team. ▶️ I have hands-on experience in Alpha, Beta, and Master test cycles. ▶️ I have created and managed Test Plans for both gaming and software projects. ▶️ I am proficient in using ticket tracking tools like JIRA and its documentation platform, Confluence. ▶️ I have expertise in team leadership and possess the necessary communication skills for such a role. ✅ Community Management Experience ▶️ I have experience as a Community Manager for various games in the MMO, MOBA, and FPS genres, spanning approximately 3 years. ▶️ I possess skills in player communication, feedback delivery, and documenting feedback such as bug reports. ▶️ I have represented games at gaming conventions like Gamescom and EGX, showcasing a willingness to engage with players in person and present the game to media and investors. ▶️ I am knowledgeable about popular platforms where gamers interact, such as Forums and Discord. ✅ Product Management Experience ▶️ Over the last 7 years, I have been involved in product management, working closely with researchers, designers, and engineers to create software, mainly for gamers. ▶️ Additionally, I have experience leading a team as a CEO in a company's early stages, where we developed a fan engagement app for esports fans. ▶️ I can collaborate effectively with teams from various fields. ▶️ I am well-versed in common agile practices such as stand-ups and planning sessions. ▶️ I possess the skill to think broadly while also delving into the specifics. The main takeaway here should be that I bring a lot of value outside of whatever role I would take. Thank you in advance for any help or guidance!

Are you a studio working on a game, you need an internal embedded QA team! I can already hear the cries of "But Rose we are owned by a publisher and so have publisher QA." or "But Rose we are going to completly outsource our QA." or my favorite and one I covered yesterday "But Rose we are just launching the studio and don't need QA till the end." and to you I say, WRONG! So lets talk a bit about what internal embedded QA can do for you. Before we get underway, I just want to say I am not saying external QA is bad but there are reasons you need to carry a group of embedded testers at your studio. Lets start with how your internal QA team forms relationships with other depts. Having them all under the same roof as you means your depts will see them as part of the team, not just a group of outsiders. This fosters better communication and teamwork between the various groups. If you integrate QA into dept meetings you will help create a deeper understanding of how things are designed and how they fit together, leading to better testing. This also allows you to get valuble feedback on potential roadblocks or even tools needed to help test during planning phases. This also helps with teams getting access to design documents or working directly with stakeholders for a particular feature. An internal team can have access to the tools you used to build the game which means we can pull your change from perforce and test in the editor giving you quick turn around on feeback while you are building a feature or for quickly having your fix verified. In situations where you are relying on an external group you will need to wait for a build and then wait for that build to be sent. If you are working with a group in a different timezone, you might be waiting a day or more to know if your fix is good. I can't tell you the number of times this approach has saved time by being able to tell someone within less than half an hour that their fix didn't work or it did lets kick off a new build to send off now. In the same vein as above if you have a bug that you need more info on for just need someone to reverify it because you need to know it is still valid, well your internal team can handle this quickly for you. A quick ask over slack or walking to their desk and they can get you whatever you need. No need to fire it off to the other team and wait for a response. If you need it quickly your friendly embedded QA can help you right there and then. Now I could probably go on and on but your girl has dyslexia and writting this much is a lot for me. So do you have other examples of how an embedded team is important? Drop them in the comments below.

🚀 Why QA Engineers Are Essential in Game Development ( It’s Not Just About Playing Games!) 🎮 Is hiring a gaming "expert" really the answer for quality game testing? Imagine if your studio is developing a match-3 game like Candy Crush. Would a console gamer who prefers first-person shooters be better suited for the job than a trained QA engineer? No, they wouldn’t. Here's why: 👉 Bias & Personal Preferences: A gamer might focus on personal taste, potentially missing bugs and ignoring crucial gameplay elements. 👉 Testing =/= Playing: Game testing is a skill requiring strategic planning, risk assessment, strong communication, and deep knowledge of how studios work, including understanding deadlines and budgets. 👉 QA Professionals Understand Player Expectations: A skilled QA engineer has the ability to step into a player’s shoes, but with the expertise to recognize industry benchmarks, platform requirements, and business model specifics. The ideal game tester blends quality assurance expertise with a passion for games, ensuring that the player experience is always center stage. So, if you’re considering a QA role or looking to enhance your studio’s testing team, remember—it’s about skills + passion! 🎯 #GameTesting #QualityAssurance #GameDevelopment #QATesting #GameQA #GameIndustry #GameTester #PlayerExperience #GamingInsights #GameStudioLife #GamingCareers
