Shout out to my professional network 📢 Have you ever considered volunteering but not been sure where you could add value? Schools rely on governors to support and challenge the leadership team; agreeing and overseeing key decisions that affect schools. Life is complex in education at the moment, budget pressures, changes in society and the changing political landscape make this all the more challenging. Could you offer your help and support to a school leadership team? Maybe you have expertise in finance, HR, legal, leadership development, coaching, project management, H&S, operations management or recruitment background? All professional fields add value to school leadership teams who are governed entirely by volunteers. Could you dedicate one term (usually 3 or 4 years) to support a school? In reality, this is somewhere around 6 meetings per year so not a huge commitment but the difference it makes is pretty huge 💪 Please feel free to get in touch with me if you would like to discuss (I work in an academy Trust but also support elsewhere as a volunteer) or reach out to your local education Trust or Local Authority for advice on how to become a governor. #futureofeducation #governorsarekey #givebacktoschools #volunteer #education

Honestly, for anyone engaged in financial co-operatives (credit unions and the organizations that support them), this program is a fabulous network and knowledge building week. The post below highlights bursaries for younger leaders, but the program is for all ages and stages in one's career. This is the type of immersion experience like few others that I've experienced. One week in Halifax could turn into much more...... building relationships with others across the country and around the world; opening up opportunities for international experiences and an international designation (if you so choose). And, of course, it will make you a better, smarter leader.
📢 Great news! We have #bursaries for Canadian #creditunion emerging leaders and those from under-resourced credit unions to attend our #CanadaDE credit union leadership program June 2-7, 2024 in Halifax! Thanks for championing a liberal arts education, which lays the foundation for lifelong learning, nurturing an innate curiosity and the ability to ask deeper, more insightful questions. By exploring various disciplines, students gain a holistic understanding of the world, allowing them to connect ideas across fields and foster innovation. This education also emphasizes ethical reasoning and civic responsibility, shaping graduates into not just skilled professionals but also conscientious global citizens. In an era of rapid technological and industrial change, the adaptability and resilience fostered by a liberal arts education are crucial, equipping individuals to learn new skills and pivot their careers as needed. Moreover, by engaging with diverse cultures, histories, and philosophies, students develop empathy and effective communication skills, essential for building strong relationships and leading with understanding in both professional and personal realms.
Expanding Leadership ✨ Ohio Wesleyan University and President Matt VandenBerg are taking on larger leadership roles in the region and nation to help champion the value of a liberal arts education in today's tumultuous and rapidly evolving world. vandenBerg will serve as the new chair of the Five Colleges of Ohio and new member of the board of directors of the national Annapolis Group of Liberal Arts Colleges. 📰 https://lnkd.in/g62Z5r_8
