While statistics show that globally, there are generally more male than female school leaders, various studies have shown that there is a positive association between female school leaders and student performance. Further, that being exposed to female leaders reduces negative stereotypes about the roles of women and that based on approaches and practices, female school leaders may contribute to reduction of the educational attainment gender gap. Gate Consulting Group, a strategic leadership and business consulting firm in Rwanda, officially concluded its impactful nine-month "LiftHerUp" Professional Mentorship Program, designed exclusively for women, on December 6. This initiative, aimed at bridging the gender gap in leadership and the marketplace. Out of the 100 women who joined the program, 55 were in professional jobs from diverse sectors, including Irembo, MTN, BRD, BK Capital, Bralirwa, Canal Rwanda, Old Mutual, Kepler, and Resonates. Throughout the program, participants were paired with accomplished women in leadership roles as mentors. They also participated in monthly masterclasses, unlocking their full potential and setting the stage for lasting personal and professional growth https://lnkd.in/dA4iUDVH

By offering technical and strategic support, we enable our partners to train school leaders in improving foundational learning, adopting gender-equitable leadership practices, and maintaining a balance between the instructional and administrative aspects of their roles. The second goal of the "Our Endeavors for Youth and Development" Foundation is to promote leadership and community participation, and this goal is essential in empowering young men and women to take on greater responsibilities in their communities and contribute effectively to achieving sustainable development. This goal focuses on building the capacities of young people to become influential leaders and active participants in community and local decision-making. This goal includes several key areas: Developing leadership skills, activating the role of youth in local governance, and holding conferences and workshops on community leadership. Through these efforts, the "Masa'ina" Foundation works to empower young men and women to become active leaders in their communities, capable of bringing about positive change and promoting sustainable community development. 🎯Through its work, ICVA supports local and national actors in influencing the humanitarian architecture to create an enabling environment for inclusive humanitarian leadership. In recent years, ICVA identified the development of leadership and capacity strengthening for local women leaders as an unmet need across the humanitarian system. In 2022 and 2023, ICVA launched a humanitarian leadership training programme for local and national Women-Led Organisations (WLOs) in the Asia-Pacific, East and Southern Africa, and Middle East and North Africa regions. Thanks to the support of the German Federal Foreign Office, this programme strengthened the leadership skills of 49 women leaders from 19 countries. It equipped participants with competencies in humanitarian coordination, collective advocacy, and policy influencing, while also breaking down stereotypes about women’s leadership.
