We just dropped anchor at our new home for the next two weeks! . French Polynesia has so many magical places but this one is definitely one of our favorites! We are in the Tuamotus French Polynesia hosting two vets who are here on a mission to help spay/neuter and care for the animals in the remote islands that would otherwise not have vet care. Their goal is 100 animals this month! . Cole and I are hosting them for free and sponsoring some of the animals to help cover costs. . I feel so blessed that this is what my Wednesdays look like now! As Perth's climate becomes progressively drier and hotter, the issue of water conservation becomes increasingly critical. The severe stress on our increasingly scarce water supply demands creative solutions. These solutions should provide alternatives to traditional urban green spaces, like lawns, which consume a lot of water. These spaces, need to be transformed into functional areas that are also environmentally friendly and conserve water. One such creative solution can be observed at East Butler Primary School, where a Miyawaki forest has brilliantly replaced lawn. After the initial establishment phase, which typically lasts two to three years, these forests require little to no upkeep, positioning themselves as a waterwise alternative to traditional lawn. Very proud to be part of this ambitious and wonderful project to protect 3000 acres of land for nature (and I love Joe's enthusiasm in the film)! It's a perfect example of how a business can invest in our natural environment, carbon and biodiversity. There will be future opportunities for carbon units through the Peatland Carbon code and for organisations who want to contribute simply to help give biodiversity a boost and lock carbon away. We only got this far because of the £5m from the Aviva fund for the restoration of temperate rainforest across western Britain, donations from individuals and charitable trusts plus a philanthropic loan. Cringe video incoming! Don't worry, it's just me who's cringing. Hopefully you'll be laughing! Every year I take on a "fun" fundraising challenge. I've done silly outfits, a couple of long walks, and a skydive, but this one might top them all... A 24-hour line dance! Yes, really. I'm learning to dance and I'm going to try and do it for 24 hours. I have no idea how this will go, but you have to try, right? I'll be raising money for Secret World Wildlife Rescue again. I am very unfit, and only started dance lessons a few weeks ago, so don't expect Lord of the Dance. It'll be a real challenge both mentally and physically, but it's worth it to stop wildlife suffering needlessly. Please, if you can give me some encouragement, I'd really appreciate it! Day 5 of Luke's Kili Adventure took them from Second Cave to Third Cave, marking a pivotal transition as the weather grew colder and rain began to fall. With every step, the group ascended in elevation, bracing against the elements. As Luke vividly described, "It was cloudy and rainy, and it just stayed that way." The hike from Second Cave Camp to Third Cave Camp spanned 3.3 kilometers (2 miles) and typically took 3-4 hours. This leg of the journey was dedicated to acclimatization, crucial for reducing the risk of altitude sickness. Upon reaching Third Cave, the group wasted no time in preparing for an acclimation hike to adjust to the higher altitude. During the acclimation hike, the A-Team once again demonstrated their unwavering support by arranging a picnic at the hike's summit. Luke recounted the scene, "You walk up there and that thing (the picnic) is all laid out ready to go. They are waiting for you with nuts, crackers, coffee and tea, Snickers, etc." Despite the challenging conditions, the group pressed on, fueled by the camaraderie and support of the A-Team. Each step brought them closer to their goal, fortified by the nourishment and encouragement provided along the way. Luke remains committed to raising funds for impactful initiatives until the end of the month.
