Nelli quipped this response to a Banking Executive, who characterized people of color, including herself are sensitive. As a woman of color, who has found myself in non-traditional space as a young art dealer, women in tech and in venture capital… I know her sentiment to be absolutely true. I feel so full and seen after listening to her book on audible. This book is going to stay with me for a while! A year ago, I was fortunate enough to embark on a personal journey of focusing on my personal development, learning and everything in between. A year later I can safely say, “mama I made it”, and I didn’t flounder #IMadeIt #yearonedone. There are too many lessons learnt to capture on this post so I’ll give you three: 1. You will never know everything, be comfortable with being wrong, & comfortable to learn from others, their (life) experiences can give you a wealth of learning no classroom or workspace could ever! 2. Vulnerability is thee thing, lean into it, and be authentic with it, it’s a powerful personal tool for making your journey more powerful, more human! 3. ALWAYS, ALWAYS bet on yourself, no one else matters more to you, than you do! Just bet on yourself - you’ll thank me later 😉 As I close off my final year (8months to be exact) I will take the final parts of this transformative journey in my stride and with confidence. It will not be easy, it will not be comfortable, but comfort never got anyone to glory.
