The NBA has secured new long-term television contracts with major players in the media landscape, including Walt Disney, Comcast, and Amazon. This strategic move marks a significant shift as the league has opted to forgo Warner Bros. Discovery's longstanding broadcast rights. The implications of this decision are multifaceted, impacting not only the NBA's revenue streams but also the way fans consume basketball content. Analysts suggest that the partnerships with Disney, Comcast, and Amazon may enhance the league's reach and engagement through innovative broadcasting methods. Bloomberg's Randall Williams elaborated on these developments during a discussion with Caroline Hyde on "Bloomberg Technology," shedding light on the potential effects on both the NBA and its broadcasting partners. #NBA #TelevisionContracts #MediaRights #SportsBusiness #Broadcasting ---------------------- Learn more here: https://lnkd.in/g-vwiAEd

As per Netflix, Christmas Day National Football League (NFL) games will be played on the streamer. The major streamer’s aggressive move into LIVE sports, specifically the NFL, is incredibly encouraging. Despite the NFL's massive audience, which drew 97 out of the top 100 US broadcasts of 2023, the NFL audience is only monetized by its broadcasters five months out of the year. X League, positioned as America's No.1 sport's entry into Women's Sports and already drawing NFL audiences across its digital and social platforms, will become the perfect complimentary sports media IP leading into each NFL season to further monetize the built-in NFL audience that sits dormant for the remainder of the year. #football #linear #streaming #global #viewership #nfl #xleague #herturn

The full 2024 National Football League (NFL) schedule is here, and the league’s slew of media rights deals will make watching games a bit more complicated – and more costly. From Christmas games exclusively on Netflix to “Thursday Night Football” broadcasts via Amazon Prime Video, fans should be prepared to shell out subscription fees for multiple services if they want to watch every game. In order to watch every game, you would need to have subscriptions to Netflix, Amazon Prime Video, ESPN+, Peacock and NFL Sunday Ticket, which will run you ~$145 per month. More complicated and more expensive - surely there must be a better way. #NFL #2024Schedule #FootballFans

The NBA’s current contracts with ESPN and Warner Bros Discovery’s (WBD) TNT Sports expire at the end of the 2024/25 season and are worth a combined US$24 billion. The league targets a major revenue increase, with some observers believing it could double or even triple its annual domestic broadcast income. According to The Athletic's Andrew Marchand, the “framework” of a deal between the NBA and Amazon calls for games broadcast on Prime Video for at “least the next decade.” The deal would begin starting in the 2025-26 season.

If you're a 49er fan, good luck watching the games. In the coming season, the SF football team matchups will be aired on five different networks. Prime-time events: 🏈🏈 2 of their 6 prime-time games will be on Amazon Prime Video 🏈🏈2 on ESPN 🏈🏈2 on NBC 🏈🏈🏈🏈🏈🏈🏈🏈Fox Sports will have 8 games. 🏈🏈And CBS gets 2. This is especially tricky if you've 'cut the cord' and rely on streaming services. The newly named Venu Sports, a JV between Disney, Fox and Warner Bros Discovery, makes it a little easier to find the games, at an expected cost of $50/month. Why is this happening? Sports are the stickiest form of entertainment--the last time-sensitive "must-see tv". You can't binge watch last year's season. I mean, you can, but you probably know the outcome at the outset, and no one wants to talk about it anymore. So every streaming service, every legacy network, and every content studio is vying to get a piece of the football pie. ❌ And the fans, who are struggling to find each game before kickoff, seem to be the losers. #litrendingtopics Jake Perez

Linear TV is still the PRIMARY and PREFERRED way to watch NFL and NCAA College Football. 83% of football viewers watch sports on local broadcast TV stations at least once a week. This number rises to 90% for men 25-54, and 92% for frequent sports viewers. If you are not advertising on local broadcast - you are missing out on a very large, very important part of the equation. #Denver7 #KMGH #LinearTV #WatchLocal #NFLOnTV #CollegeFootball #BroadcastTV #SportsViewership #AdvertiseLocal #FootballFans #LocalBroadcast #ReachYourAudience #SportsAdvertising #LocalSports #EngagedViewers #ImportantMarketingOpportunities
