Connecting with resources in the agricultural industry can help. The key for many is diversifying our food sources by supporting local growers for Economic, Environmental and Social Sustainability reasons. Who do you want to be your partner? To help you can look up information about a companies “Sustainability” arm.

Bold campaign, that can bring a lot of help to animals. If you're not vegan, it doesn't mean you feel OK about how animals are treated in factory farms. So this campaign simply says that if you're not yet ready to change your diet for animals, maybe you can spare a few bucks to offset the negative impact of your meals. Habit change is difficult, but donating a few bucks now is easy :) Cool video & campaign!

The USDA-FSIS has updated its guideline, "FSIS Guideline to Assist with the Donation of Eligible Meat, Poultry, and Egg Products to Non-Profit Organizations," to address feedback from the previous version and enhance readability. This guideline provides essential information for establishments interested in donating meat, poultry, and egg products to non-profit organizations. Meat and poultry establishments play a vital role in reducing food loss and waste. FSIS encourages these establishments to donate products to non-profit organizations whenever possible to help mitigate food waste. This past fall, the itec group volunteered at the Brantford Food Bank and discovered that donations often decline in the summer, likely due to the absence of festive holidays and busy summer schedules. Today, we returned to give back again, donating both our time and food. We sorted items by type and expiration date, achieving in three hours what would have taken their team three weeks! A reminder: the need for donations extends beyond peak holiday seasons like Easter, Thanksgiving, and Christmas. Consider donating your time to help pack orders or sort items at your local food bank. Volunteers are crucial in keeping these services running for those in need. Every Spring and Fall through our Poultry to Pantries Delivery Day we donate 120,000+ pounds (over 240,000 pounds per year) of nutritious protein to organizations in every corner of Chicagoland. Chobani's new 'Super Milk' hit shelves with a first stop at Idaho food pantries. Chobani donated 3,000 cases of Super Milk to the The Idaho Foodbank after launching on Tuesday. Super Milk has 25% less sugar and 50% more protein than average milk and can stay on shelves for nine months. Once put in the refrigerator, the milk needs to be consumed within two weeks. Chobani will be donating products to food banks within Idaho and New York, where processing facilities are located. In 2022, over 220,000 Idahoans experienced food insecurity. Idaho Foodbank CEO, Randy Ford, said, "[Food banks] don't have to have refrigerated transportation. They don't have capacity constraints on their coolers within their pantries. Facing the choice between essentials like milk or electricity, eggs or medications, and even poultry or housing shouldn't be a reality for anyone. Yet, for 1 in 3 of our neighbors facing food insecurity across Massachusetts, these are some of the tough decisions they have to make daily. Thank you to Esha Walia and Boston Globe Media for their recent article highlighting how grocery prices have surged 25% since 2019, forcing twice as many families to seek food assistance compared to pre-pandemic levels and making affording nutritious food more difficult than ever. That’s why GBFB exists. We are here to help and fuel the charitable food system that is responding to this chronic surge in food assistance need. With our purchasing power, we acquire and distribute healthy free food to our neighbors facing food insecurity through a robust network of 600 community partners. That means for every $1 you donate, 2 meals will be provided to a neighbor in need across the 190 cities and towns we serve. It's getting hotter, and for many who are living on the streets, survival is a constant struggle. Inside our walls, we try our best to make AHCH a small haven of relief and provide simple pleasures such as hot coffee, sugar and creamer, and small snacks like cup-o-noodles, protein bars, chips, and popcorn. On outreach, there is an acute need for bottles of water, nutrient-dense bars, and electrolyte drinks. This is why we need your help to provide the basic resources that make AHCH a warm and welcoming place for people to come to. Why Aren't There Any Whole Foods or Trader Joe's in Roxbury, Mattapan, or Dorchester? Ever wonder why we don't see Whole Foods or Trader Joe's in our neighborhoods like Roxbury, Mattapan, or Dorchester? It's no coincidence. This absence opens the door for profiteers to gain ground in our communities, claiming they provide "good food with good nutrients." But let's take a closer look at what's really happening. These so-called "helpers" source their products from donations—like Amazon's contributions to Fair Foods and other donors like Market Basket. They repackage these unwanted fruits, meats, and vegetables, then sell them to us in our urban areas. They even have the nerve to charge us for accessing food that was donated for free! It's not about helping the poor and low-income—it’s about making a profit off of us. They're charging us for food that was meant to be given, not sold. This isn’t charity; it’s exploitation. We deserve better than leftovers and hand-me-downs at a cost.
