  • 𝐈𝐬 𝐭𝐫𝐮𝐥𝐲 𝐤𝐢𝐧𝐝 𝐚𝐧𝐢𝐦𝐚𝐥 𝐟𝐚𝐫𝐦𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐞𝐯𝐞𝐧 𝐩𝐨𝐬𝐬𝐢𝐛𝐥𝐞? Brett Gallagher’s farm near Prague offers a vision of animals as partners, working with nature rather than against it. But even if small, “kind” farms like his exist, can they realistically feed the world? And is it ever truly kind to raise animals for food? We interviewed Brett for a special collaborative blog post with the Substack, Mad Farmer Check it out👇

𝐎𝐯𝐞𝐫 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐮𝐧𝐝𝐞𝐫𝐫𝐚𝐭𝐞𝐝 𝐰𝐚𝐲𝐬 𝐭𝐨 𝐡𝐞𝐥𝐩 𝐚𝐧𝐢𝐦𝐚𝐥𝐬 💡 When it comes to making the world a better place, there's always more that could be done, but we each can only put in so much effort.. 😰 This means it's crucial to pick choices that are the right combination of impactful and easy. We've attempted to map this out in this 2x2. Please note that we celebrate all intentions to help, even if they slightly miss the mark! 𝐎𝐮𝐫 𝐭𝐚𝐤𝐞𝐚𝐰𝐚𝐲𝐬: 1️⃣ Donating is over-powered (surprise surprise!)💰🤠 2️⃣ Pescatarianism can easily do more harm than good if it leads you to eat more fish than if you were omnivorous (because fish are smaller and so more of them need to be harmed to produce the same amount of food) 🐟😭 3️⃣ Encouraging those around you to do more, in an empowering and inclusive way (not in a self-righteous or judgmental way!) is under-rated 🫶📈 4️⃣ Eating 𝘭𝘦𝘴𝘴 animal products (even if you're not vegetarian) is underrated, and should be celebrated more 🍜 🎉 If you found this helpful please share it with your network 🙏 If you think something is wrong or missing, please let us know 💬 ----- 𝐎𝐮𝐫 𝐜𝐚𝐯𝐞𝐚𝐭𝐬: 1️⃣ With many of these, the impact depends massively on your individual circumstances. For example, voting can potentially be very impactful depending on your electorate. Protesting also has a high impact ceiling. Buying ethically labelled products can be great or useless depending what the labels actually mean and how well the standards are enforced (we advise a high level of skepticism in general!) 2️⃣ The ease of different actions can also be very personal, e.g. depending what you have more of to spare -- time or money

Most people think factory farming is only bad for animals. Increasingly, people understand why it's a problem for the environment as well. The most overlooked victim is us: Factory farming puts public health at risk and degrades social justice. • One of the big reasons many people don't want to adopt a more plant-based diet is that food is so closely linked with our community and our traditions. This is never more true than in the holidays. Fortunately, changing your diet isn't the only way, maybe not even the best way, to help tackle factory farming.

Factory farming is already on the way out. 𝐎𝐮𝐫 𝐣𝐨𝐛 𝐢𝐬 𝐣𝐮𝐬𝐭 𝐭𝐨 𝐬𝐩𝐞𝐞𝐝 𝐢𝐭 𝐮𝐩!

But this is a market-based solution, so why would charities need to be involved? In our latest blog, guest author Noah Fuhrmann breaks down exactly why the non-profit sector is crucial for creating the foods of tomorrow 🌱

  • The issues with fish farming in FoodPrint's infographic are a great start, but we think the biggest ones are still missing: (1) Fish farming is a CAUSE of overfishing, not a solution to it, with an estimated 40% of individual wild-caught fish (11% by weight) fed to farmed fish today.. (2) Inhumane farming practices cause suffering on an industrial scale for over 90 billion fish each year. But we can solve this 🌱. Charities like Fish Welfare Initiative are making fish farming humane, whilst organisations like The Good Food Institute are making sustainable alternatives better and more available 🚀 𝘚𝘰𝘶𝘳𝘤𝘦𝘴: - 40% 𝘴𝘵𝘢𝘵: https://lnkd.in/efid5iwq - 11% 𝘴𝘵𝘢𝘵: https://lnkd.in/eEjyaaCS - 90 𝘣𝘪𝘭𝘭𝘪𝘰𝘯 𝘧𝘪𝘴𝘩 𝘴𝘵𝘢𝘵: https://lnkd.in/ey5YzkKA
