George Eastman: A Care-First Visionary In today's business world, we often look to the future for inspiration, but sometimes it's in the stories of our past that we find the clearest path forward. George Eastman, founder of Kodak, embodied the Care-First philosophy in a way that profoundly impacted not just his company, but also the entire community of Rochester, NY. Eastman's vision extended far beyond the walls of his factory. He believed that the success of Kodak was inseparable from the well-being of its people. Rochester became synonymous with Kodak, not because of its products alone, but because of the thriving community Eastman built around his employees. He understood that when companies invest in their people's personal fulfillment, they create loyal, passionate workers who, in turn, drive business success. While Kodak is no longer what it once was, the legacy of Eastman's Care-First approach lives on. His story serves as a reminder: businesses can—and should—become cornerstones of their communities, fostering lives of fulfillment and purpose.
