🎉 Today marks my fourth business anniversary! And in my four years, the biggest thing that has stood out to me is just how much change we have seen in the online space. From the rise of “7-figure business coaches”, to AI-driven content, and virtual assistants who run entire marketing functions from afar - it’s been a wild ride watching these trends pass by and trying to stay relevant. Every day brings a new “must-have” tactic or shiny new object luring you away from your course. But if I’ve learned one thing over these four years, it’s that marketing fundamentals stand the test of time. It’s those foundational marketing principles I picked up back in uni (even before social media had its rise to fame) that have given me the best results - both for my business and for my clients. In an industry brimming with constant change, I’ve learned that prioritising strategy over trends, going back to basics, and remembering the human side of marketing is what makes the real difference. Here’s to four years of sticking to my guns and building something I’m proud of, one human connection at a time. And here’s to the next four. 🥂

We have been living a long-distance relationship for the last 20 years. It is about time to celebrate. Happy Anniversary! * We never got really close over the course of the first 18 years or so. You would have served as my digital address book. I would have been one of your many 'dormant' users. I remember the days when you notified me about my former work colleagues changing jobs or moving from one continent to another. That was useful. Thank you for that. You no longer do that, do you? Which is perfectly fine with me. I am not complaining. * How far back is 20 years? I didn't even own a mobile phone at the time. The concept of social media was foreign to me. You evolved without me noticing. I simply had other business to deal with. We grew apart, didn't we? * Our relationship has changed over time. Thankfully. Have we gotten a bit too close lately? Possibly. And yet, we continue to maintain a rather transactional relationship, don't we? You are a tool. Whose inner workings I don't really understand. You give me access to beautiful souls. Which I am grateful for. So, please, #LinkedIn keep doing what you do. For the next 20 years. * Before I forget it, let me say this: "I wouldn't be me, without the people on LinkedIn!" #anniversary #socialmedia #portfoliohuman

Shaun and I celebrated our 20th anniversary recently. I know, I can’t quite believe it either. One of the things we did very early in our relationship was sit down and map out a life plan. This involved working out our core values and priorities as well as our short- and long-term goals, both as individuals and as a couple. They were categorised into six core areas, including work / career, health, relationships, and money. We looked at where we wanted to be in 20 years and what we needed to do to get there. Taking the time to sit down and work through our priorities and goals gave us a framework for the last 20 years of our life together. It set some ground rules for our relationship and helped us stay focused when times were hard. By setting priorities and some deadlines, we could better manage where we spend our time, energy, and attention. Our goals also helped keep us accountable, as we reviewed them at least every year, and often every quarter. And because we mostly wanted the same things, it made decision-making easier as we could evaluate options and choices based on our long-term goals and values. Twenty years on and we have achieved almost all that we set out to do all those years ago. Now it’s time for us to create our life plan for the next 20 years! Do you have a life plan? Or goals of any sort? What do they look like? I'd love to know. #goals #lifeplan #anniversary #celebration

As we get closer to the middle of the year, many of us think about the goals we set in January. I do this too, but I also take time around my birthday for deeper thinking. On my birthday, I ask myself some important questions: - Am I where I want to be? - Am I who I want to be? - Am I spending time with the right people? - What did I learn this past year? - How have I grown? This isn't just about checking off goals. It's about understanding my journey, celebrating my wins, learning from my challenges, and planning for the future. I think everyone should find a special time to reflect. Whether it's your birthday, an anniversary, or a quiet weekend, take a moment to ask yourself these questions. Reflecting helps us see where we are and where we want to go. What questions do you ask yourself when you reflect? How do you make sure you're becoming the best version of yourself? #Reflection #GoalSetting #PersonalGrowth #SelfImprovement
