A year today the B-2 Stealth 'Spirit of America' diverted into RAF Fairford. How lucky for me to be on my evening walk at the same time. 😊 I say 'lucky'. But I had seen in a 'spotter' forum that it could be on it's way (don't judge me!). I kept tracking it. And then positioned myself in the right place at the right time. Just in case. Then luck 'happens'. And when people say that I'm 'lucky' my business has become successful in a short space of time. I remember it's actually taken 30 years of learning my craft as a marketing strategist, and nearly 20 years in the aviation sector. Creating my niche as the 'go to' aviation marketing company with International Aviation & Airshow Marketing. By being driven, focused and intentional (okay, maybe a little bit of luck!). But mainly luck happens by the choices you make and the effort you put in. I made the choice to live at the end of RAF Fairford runway, a United States Air Force base in the UK. Now that's really lucky! PS The original post had the most engagement of all my LI posts over the last year. See the post and the stats in the comments. ⬇️ 😍 ✈ #B2Stealth #B2 #RAFFairford #Aviation #MarketStrategy #AvGeek

The Wrights pioneered user-centered design by focusing on the control systems in order to support piloting as an essential function of flying. Others like Langley fixated on wings and motors, without due consideration to the role of the human in piloting the aircraft.
TODAY IN HISTORY... Wilbur and Orville Wright made aviation history with the first manned, powered flight of the "Wright Flyer" in Kitty Hawk, North Carolina ✈️ The first flight lasted for 12 seconds and went 120 feet.

Empirically guided insight from bicycles: you don’t have to develop an inherently stable platform. You just need to develop a #stabilizable system. And that doesn’t require comprehensive observability and controllability because the best #nonlinear systems have a subset states that take care of themselves. It’s fascinating to see the various air frames that the Wright Brothers #experimented with (e.g., at the National Museum of the US Air Force in Dayton). The full-scale physical air frames reveal their thought process behind #iterative design of the control system for detectability and stabilizability. The #mathematics of the resulting aerodynamics followed, and the #intelligibility of the adaptive control system is as difficult as many computational solutions involving artificial intelligence.

✈ The first commercial passenger flight took place on 1st January 1914 between St. Petersburg and Tampa in Florida. The aircraft, a Benoist XIV piloted by Tony Jannus, carried a single passenger – Abram C. Pheil, the mayor of St. Petersburg. The flight lasted 23 minutes, covering 34 kilometres across Tampa Bay. 💸 The ticket for this flight was auctioned for $400, equivalent to over $10,000 today! This flight was groundbreaking, as it was organised by the St. Petersburg-Tampa Airboat Line, the first regularly scheduled airline offering public transport. Up until then, aircraft flights were predominantly military, experimental, or private endeavours. 🚀 Since then, commercial aviation has continued to evolve, connecting people across the globe. Bartolini Air is proud to be part of this dynamic industry, offering training for the best pilots across Europe, preparing them for the challenges of the aviation world. #History #Aviation #Travel #Technology #BartoliniAir #AviationHistory #Airlines #AviationPioneers #Flying #PilotTraining #AirTravel #Innovation #FloridaHistory

Celebrating Key Milestones in Aviation History on October 12 October 12 marks a day of significance in the annals of aviation history, with several milestones that have helped shape the industry as we know it today. Across different years, this date has witnessed groundbreaking events, each contributing to the evolution of flight and aeronautics. One of the notable events on this day occurred in 1929, when the German airship LZ 127 Graf Zeppelin completed its first transatlantic flight. This marked a major advancement in air travel, demonstrating the potential for airships in long-distance passenger and cargo transport. The Graf Zeppelin's success showcased the possibilities of air travel, sparking interest and investment in the development of more advanced airships and later fixed-wing aircraft. In 1944, on October 12, the United States saw the commissioning of the USS Midway, an aircraft carrier that played a pivotal role in naval aviation. The Midway was the largest ship in the world until 1955 and served in various capacities, including as a crucial asset during the Cold War. Its commissioning demonstrated the strategic importance of aircraft carriers in modern military strategy and their role in projecting power across the globe. October 12 also marks a significant achievement in commercial aviation. In 1955, the Boeing 367-80, the prototype for the Boeing 707, took to the skies for its maiden flight. This aircraft was instrumental in ushering in the Jet Age, offering unprecedented speed and efficiency for commercial airlines. The success of the Boeing 707 transformed the aviation industry, making air travel more accessible to the masses and setting the standard for future commercial aircraft. These milestones highlight the diverse advancements in aviation, from airships to aircraft carriers and commercial jets, each playing a unique role in the broader narrative of human flight. As we reflect on these achievements on October 12, we celebrate the ingenuity and determination that continue to drive innovation in aviation. #milestonesinaviationhistory #aviationhistory #GrafZeppelin #USS Midway #Boeing707 #JetAge #AirTravelInnovation #NavalAviation

The Farnborough International Airshow has commenced, showcasing top executives from the aviation and defense sectors amid ongoing supply chain issues. Two years after emerging from pandemic disruptions, the industry now faces the challenge of meeting soaring demand, with concerns about persistent supply chain problems. The International Civil Aviation Organization predicts that air travel could triple by 2050, raising significant environmental concerns. Airbus, with a backlog of 8,626 orders, contrasts with Boeing's 5,600, as the latter continues to recover from past setbacks. The defense sector also eyes opportunities, bolstered by increased military budgets but facing similar supply chain hurdles. The airshow underscores the sector's need to balance growth with sustainability and operational challenges. For more information:- https://lnkd.in/gHN2AYnb
