MORE DAYS, MORE DIALS!! You know us! We always come after those phones! This week, we were at nearly 7,000 calls! But what do those calls do? Last quarter, we worked with a hollow metal doors and frames manufacturer. Due to their Assistant Warehouse Manager leaving, they urgently wanted to fill the role. Recognizing the importance of prioritizing the search, we presented candidates on a very rapid timeline. Because the client got feedback to us quickly, we had interviews set up that same week! After meeting them, the client found that one of the individuals had a phenomenal attitude and brought ingenious ideas to the table that could add value to their company. Though it was an urgent hire, the company agreed to push the candidate's start date back a week so that they were able to take an already-planned anniversary trip. Impressed by the client's flexibility and understanding, the candidate was thrilled to now be employed by a company that showed just how much they valued their employees beyond just a professional setting. I'm so grateful for my time with Infinite Laundry - for the team I got to work with, and for their blessing in allowing Linen Recruiter to continue growing independently. Backstory: Since 2019 (5 years already!), my company Linen Recruiter has been the exclusive provider of staffing and recruiting services to Infinite customers. Infinite (along with my help) sold the service, and I provided the work - headhunting, recruiting, job advertising, all the tools/tech, and of course candidates that go along with it. Acting as a fully integrated subcontractor, I have been able to work with lots of great clients in the laundry industry. 𝐀𝐧𝐝 𝐭𝐡𝐚𝐭'𝐬 𝐧𝐨𝐭 𝐜𝐡𝐚𝐧𝐠𝐢𝐧𝐠. WE'VE BEEN GHOSTED. I've read a lot of posts from people looking for work being disappointed when recruiters and/or hiring managers ghosted them and not provided any feedback let alone the result of the interview process. Just know, employers get ghosted too. Girl accepted a role, we set the date, we bought the equipment, set the working station and waited...on her first day, no show. No reply to "Hey, are you coming today?" either. Needless to say we're still looking for a Picker & Packer for our Essex warehouse. I know people like to change their job titles around so they sound either more generic or more specific, but when is it not ok? I just saw a resume for someone who worked in a restaurant as waitstaff and it's listed on the resume as Customer Service Specialist. Something I wish more people understood? You can try before you buy. Every subscription service has a free trial. Grocery stores hand out samples in the store. Wineries and breweries let you do a tasting before you buy bottles to take home. So why don’t employers try people out on a short term contract before hiring them? I’m not saying every time this would work, but in a job market like this, if you think someone is good and you can temp to hire to see if they’re a fit, isn’t that a better use of your time than tossing out weeks of interviews and looking for a whole new candidate slate? We did this all the time at Cartoon Network. We would hire a temp to fill an urgent need and see if they’d be a long term fit. Many of them are still there! Some aren’t. But we knew before hiring them how they would work. If you’re an employer right now and you’ve got someone who checks 8 of 10 boxes, but you’re not sure if they’re the right fit….try before you buy. I’m guessing it’ll turn out great. But if not, you haven’t lost a whole lot. You could gain your next great employee.

Recruiter/HM Help requested! I know someone who is looking to branch out into a different career. He’s currently a bartender and bar manager looking to get into sales but even though his resume shows how his transferable skills will help him meet and exceed sales goals and build quality relationships with customers, he’s finding it hard to get any calls for even an initial interview with a recruiter. I mentioned that he may need to adjust his title on his resume to something a recruiter would recognize, but I’ve been out of the recruiting game for awhile. What’s the current recommendation for building a resume if you’re changing careers?
