Farmers are key partners on our journey to a more sustainable world! We were honored to attend the 13th World Agri-Tech Innovation Summit in London from September 30 to October 1, where innovation and transformative business models took center stage. This year’s summit underscored the essential role of supply chain partnerships in fostering climate-resilient agriculture. Our very own Luc Beerens shared our efforts to help advance the regenerative agriculture transition. During a panel with industry experts, he highlighted the shift from traditional agricultural practices to regenerative methods that support farmers in enhancing soil health, biodiversity, carbon management, and climate resilience. A recent Forbes story by our CEO, Sara Scherr, highlights how new long-term, place-based partnerships between farmers, businesses, environmental organizations, local governments, communities and indigenous peoples are the solution to various global challenges. 🤝 Landscape partnerships are viable investments that can help with biodiversity loss, climate change mitigation, hunger, rural development, water quality, and more. In Germany, for instance, regenerative practices have the potential to boost farmers' profits by over 60% and add more than $9 billion annually from socio-ecological benefits. As I wrap up 2024 and gear up for 2025, I rewatched Agreena's end-of-year video, and it's incredible to see how far we have come over the last 12 months. This was the year we demonstrated, through our partnerships with many of the largest and most forward-thinking industry leaders, how our verified outcomes help bridge the gap between farmers and industry. It was also the year we released our Ag+ suite of products to help companies take action and improve the sustainability of their supply chain and monitor & measure the impact of adopted practices beyond a carbon footprint by quantifying additional benefits. There is still a way to go before regenerative farming becomes the new norm, but this year we set the foundations to make 2025 the year of acceleration with the launch of several new products which will drive deeper value for both farmers and corporations.

Here some insights from the @London Climate Technology Show this year and my participation in the panel discussion "Sustainable Practices in Agri Value Chains: Collaborative Approaches for Success" . The Role of Regenerative Agriculture in Carbon Sequestration 🌱Regenerative practices not only enhance soil health but also transform agricultural landscapes into effective carbon sinks. By restoring organic matter in soil, we can simultaneously sequester carbon and improve biodiversity. Carbonsafe’s innovative projects are leading this charge, helping farms transition into sustainable operations while contributing to global carbon reduction targets. 2. Empowering Farmers and the Value Chain Farmers lie at the heart of Carbonsafe’s mission. By adopting regenerative methods such as cover cropping and reduced tillage, they can: 🌍Earn premium carbon credits, opening new revenue streams. 🌍Boost soil fertility, yielding better crop outcomes. Participate in a sustainable agricultural model that secures long-term environmental and financial benefits. One standout case: In Bulgaria, we partnered with local farmers to implement these practices, resulting in measurable environmental and economic gains. The initiative not only enriched the soil but also empowered the community by improving livelihoods. 3. Collaboration as the Key to Sustainability 👥Achieving global impact requires collaboration: We work closely with stakeholders across the agricultural value chain, from producers to policymakers. Leveraging cutting-edge technology allows us to scale carbon farming projects and drive innovation. As we look ahead to 2025, we’re doing so as Europe’s leading soil carbon programme: operating in 20 countries, supporting more than 2,300 farmers actively transitioning more than 4.5 million hectares of farmland. What a year for Agreena and Europe’s leading soil carbon program, which operates in 20 countries and aids over 2,300 farmers in transitioning 4.5 million hectares of farmland to regenerative practices! Agreena has launched innovative partnerships with industry leaders such as Mars, IFC, and Raiffeisen Bank Ukraine, advancing a shared vision for a sustainable food system. The acquisition of Fieldmargin marks significant progress in helping farmers scale regenerative agriculture across Europe.

Details to come.   These were just some of the issues covered:                                Building on the momentum in business of going nature positive, setting nature targets, and embracing regenerative agriculture, while acknowledging there is more to do in developing and disclosing clearer definitions, targets, KPIs and plans. Recognising the broad shared value and shared resilience to be gained through investments in natural assets in the supply chain while also providing details in connection with carbon, soil, water and biodiversity.   Setting useful targets - linked to the size of investment, hectares of land and/or the proportion of ingredients to come from regenerative sources  The psyche of farmers - needing financial support but also understanding their everyday challenges and preparations in the field and helping them build confidence in new regenerative techniques.
